Biography

    • He became interested in theatre by acting in children's plays in his fathers church. He worked in Ottawa Little Theatre, The Canadian Repertory Theatre then on graduating from McMasters University came to England in 1952 to study at the Central School of Speach and Drama. He worked at Scottish National Childres Theatre and Glasgow Citizens Theatre then rep at Newcastle and Darlington. In the West End he played Brink in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He was voted Most Promising Actor of 1958 by The British Film Accademy

  • Leading actor, the son of a Baptist minister. He was brought up in Canada, and came to fame in English films, notably in the title role of Les Deux Visages du Dr Jekyll (1960) and as an artist in Tony Hancock's The Rebel (1961). In the early 70's, Massie took the unusual step of abandoning his acting career in favor of a position as drama teacher at the University of South Florida.
