Greg Allan Martin
- Actor
A Series Regular in the SONY/Affirm Originals series Shadrach, Greg Allan Martin's has traversed a decidedly unconventional path to the world of acting. Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Greg's early love for sports led to a football scholarship at Vanderbilt University, where he played for four years, graduating 3rd in his class and Summa Cum Laude with a degree in math and economics, and earning first team Academic All-American honors. Continuing his academic journey, Greg graduated from Harvard Law School, whereupon his innate sense of justice led him to embark upon a distinguished career in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, serving as a criminal prosecutor for nearly three decades.
Despite the intellectual and personal rewards of fighting for victims of crime and keeping bad guys off the streets, Greg discovered that the challenge of persuading jurors fed a desire for an audience of more than just 12 people at at time. So he found the opportunity, even while working full time as a prosecutor, to appear onstage in more than 25 theatrical productions in Los Angeles during his tenure as a D.A. Needless to say, the role this southern-born attorney relished the most was when he had the thrill of playing Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Film and television roles followed, most noticeably that of the redneck boat storage owner Jed opposite Jason Bateman in an iconic scene in the second episode of Season One of Ozark. Other prominent roles included playing a rich socialite experimenting with LSD opposite John Slattery in Mad Men, and a Guest Star role as an irascible cancer sufferer opposite Katey Sagal in Rebel. Greg's courtroom experience was on full display as a judge in Dynasty, his athletic background contributed to his football coaching performances in Colin in Black and White and two seasons of the hugely popular Madden NFL video game, and his professional gravitas led to multiple roles as a doctor in The Resident, Heartbeat, and the two year recurring character of Dr. Noah in The Young and the Restless.
With these theatrical successes, Greg finally decided in 2022 to transition fully away from the world of legal briefs to the world of scripts, turning his avocation for acting into a full time vocation. That move paid off very quickly, as he was soon cast as a series regular in the rugged rancher and patriarch in the SONY/Affirm Originals series Shadrach.
