Showrunner Anna Fishko confirms multiple seasons are planned for Orphan Black: Echoes. The new season could go in different directions, says Fishko. Future seasons have the opportunity to build on the strength of the first installment.
Orphan Black: Echoes showrunner Anna Fishko offers an optimistic response about the future of the AMC show. Consisting of ten episodes, the Orphan Black spinoff stars Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter as Lucy, a woman who wakes up with no memory of who she is. As the series progresses, more is revealed about a cloning conspiracy that carries strong connections with the original series. With a supporting cast that includes Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix, and Avan Jogia, the first installment leaves plenty of room for further exploration.
In an interview with Collider, following the Orphan Black: Echoes season 1 finale, Fishko was asked about whether the spinoff could return for more seasons.

When the series ended in 2017, nobody involved with “Orphan Black” really wanted to leave its labyrinthine world behind.
“The vibe there was special, the crew, the cast, the creators, it was a real love in, to be honest,” co-creator John Fawcett told IndieWire. “And there was lots of joking about the spin-off. My vote was that it should be Donnie and Art living in a bachelor suite because their wives left them, and they’re solving crimes. But that didn’t really fly. We also talked about wanting to see Alison and Rachel and Sarah, what are they doing in the future? There were lots of conversations about the future of ‘Orphan Black.'”

Spoilers are ahead for Orphan Black: Echoes season 1, episode 1, "Pilot."
Orphan Black: Echoes can explore unresolved mysteries from the original show by focusing on the now-adult Dr. Kira Manning and her unique abilities. Kira's psychic connection with the Leda clones remains unexplained, though Orphan Black lightly discusses her apparent healing factor. Orphan Black: Echoes has the opportunity to address these mysteries and explore Kira's involvement in morally ambiguous human experiments.

The thrill of discovery that accompanied my first viewing of the Orphan Black pilot is one of the highlights of the 20-something years I’ve been doing this job. It’s rare that a show emerges from so far off the radar — relatively mysterious plot, relatively unknown creative auspices, relatively unknown star, relatively unproven network brand — and so instantly establishes itself as worthy of obsession. In less than an hour, you knew Graeme Manson and John Fawcett had created a mystery that demanded to be pursued, that BBC America had cemented itself as a place capable of delivering such stories and that Tatiana Maslany was a force of nature.
It’s an unfair standard, but nonetheless the one facing BBC America and AMC’s new Orphan Black: Echoes, a 10-episode drama created by Anna Fishko and set in the Orphan Black universe, but not precisely a spinoff or sequel.

In an amusingly meta instance of sci-fi imitating sci-fi, “Orphan Black” is getting a futuristic sequel series before anyone has time enough to miss the original. That’s either a big mistake or more of a good thing in a booming genre that could almost always do with more feminist entries.

Snowpiercer’s final season will see the light of day after all.
AMC has picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama — including the completed but never aired fourth season. The series first aired on TNT, but the Warner Bros. Discovery network canceled the show in January 2023 as it and sister channels TBS and TruTV left the scripted business.
The first two seasons of Snowpiercer will begin streaming on AMC+ on June 1, with season three following a week later. The final season will debut July 21 on both AMC and AMC+ — a change from the network’s earlier plans to air the final season in early 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

I’m thirty-plus entries into Revenge of the Remakes and have finally reached an original/remake pair where neither is American. Vincenzo Natali’s Cube (1997) is a maple-scented product of Canada’s independent filmmaking scene, while Yasuhiko Shimizu’s 2021 remake hails from Japan. You’re free of rants about stale Americanizations and Hollywood’s sometimes shortsighted approach to horror remakes. Welcome to a wholly international edition of my column that’s, in comparison, outside the box. I’m honestly surprised Japan beat us to a Cube remake in a post-Platinum Dunes world — although Bloody Disgusting’s Brad Miska reported Lionsgate was taking new Cube pitches as of May 2022. Don’t be surprised if a domestic project surfaces soon.
It’s a tale of two geometrical prisons influenced by cultural horror norms. Natali aligns with genre-bending Canadian minds like David Cronenberg, whereas Shimizu leans toward more operatic and soapy Japanese storytelling.

TNT‘s series adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s “Snowpiercer” (which was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob) kicked off back in 2020, with three seasons aired between 2020 and 2022. The post-apocalyptic drama series was already set to end with its upcoming fourth season, but Warner Bros. Discovery has decided not to air the season at all. Instead, Tomorrow Studios will now shop the series to other outlets.
“We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of ‘Snowpiercer,'” a network spokesperson said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought ‘Snowpiercer’s’ extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects.”

Production on TNT’s “Snowpiercer” has been stopped due to safety concerns involving extremely high temperatures on set (via Deadline). The series was filming in British Columbia, where temperatures frequently reached the mid-90s. Multiple cast and crew members experienced cases of heat exhaustion, and 14 people were reportedly taken to the local hospital for treatment. Soon after, producers made the decision to suspend filming until temperatures became more manageable.
“Out of an abundance of caution, production of ‘Snowpiercer’ wrapped early yesterday and was suspended for today due to extreme heat on location,” said a spokesperson for Tomorrow Studios, which produces the show. “The health and well-being of show cast and crew remains top priority.”
Many were quick to point out the irony of a show about people affected by extreme climate change being shut down over extreme climate change. “Snowpiercer” takes place in a future Ice Age, and the heavy...

“Snowpiercer,” TNT’s TV adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 sci-fi climate catastrophe film of the same name, has halted production on its fourth and final season following extreme temperatures in Vancouver, Canada and the hospitalization of some crew members in the effort of being “extra cautious.”
“Out of an abundance of caution, production of Snowpiercer wrapped early yesterday and was suspended for today due to extreme heat on location. The health and well-being of show cast and crew remains top priority,” a Tomorrow Studios spokesperson said, adding that all of the people who were in the hospital had been discharged.
The series, based on the graphic novel “Le Transperceneige” by Jacques Lob, is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a botched attempt to stop global warming has inadvertently created another ice age. The post-apocalyptic journey of the Snowpiercer, the last ark of humanity, will come to a close with its fourth and final season.
As a massive breakout hit, it grew from its roots as an extreme examination of class warfare into a character-driven, emotionally wrought, and intellectually challenging study of social governance in a world where hope survives through will alone.
Anchored by stars Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly, the cast has blossomed over the past three seasons into a multi-faceted and fascinating ensemble where the bells of redemption and comeuppance have rung for many.
A spokesperson for the network announced the news on Friday.
"We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT.
"Its talented writers, actors, and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre, and now...

“Snowpiercer” is changing showrunners going into the show’s fourth season.
Paul Zbyszewski — whose past credits include “Lost,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Helstrom” — will take the reins of the TNT series from Graeme Manson. Manson famously took over showrunning duties on the drama show after original series creator Josh Friedman and TNT parted ways over “creative differences” before Season 1.
In addition, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” alum Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are both joining the series in Season 4. The news comes the same day as the Season 3 finale. Production is now underway on Season 4.

The new “Orphan Black” series in the works at AMC has found its writer.
Variety has learned exclusively that Anna Fishko is onboard to write and executive produce the potential new iteration of the series, which was first reported as being in the works back in 2019. A writers’ room for the project is now open, though exact plot details remain under wraps.
It is known, however, that the project is not a reboot of the original show, but rather a new story set in the same world. Boat Rocker Studios, a division of Boat Rocker Media, will produce.
Fishko is no stranger to working with AMC, having been a writer and supervising producer on “Fear the Walking Dead” for the basic cabler during the show’s fourth season in 2018.
Most recently, she worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the Netflix series “The Society,” which had been renewed for...

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 1
One of the strongest features of Snowpiercer is the show’s ability to figure out ways to create claustrophobia. Granted, that’s easy on a train; it’s not exactly the sort of environment in which you can spread out and social distance from your neighbors. On the last train, however, that situation is even more dire, especially if you’re in third class or stuck in the tail. The people on board Snowpiercer toil away elbow to elbow with their fellows, making clothes, breaking up ice, cooking and growing food, even entertaining in the club car. There’s not a space to be alone, unless you’re the leader of the anti-Wilford resistance, and that means you’re alone in a room the size and temperature of a meat locker.

The Ice Age continues but hope springs eternal, and our Arc of Humanity continues to roll along at TNT.
TNT's Snowpiercer had a rocky departure out of the station, plagued by numerous production changes and network pivots back in 2017 before finally premiering in 2020.

TNT’s postapocalyptic sci-fi drama Snowpiercer has extended its streak of early renewals with a Season 4 pickup.
All have come ahead of the premiere the previous season; Season 4 marks the earliest renewal, which is done as Season 3 wraps up filming. (I hear the pickup decision was quietly made last month but made official now.) Star Daveed Diggs made the renewal announcement on the set of the show at the tail end of production — you can see it below.
Produced by Tomorrow Studios, Snowpiercer Seasons 1 and 2 are available on the TNT app, with Season 3 set to premiere on TNT early next year. With Animal Kingdom and Claws coming to an end, Snowpiercer is the only remaining ongoing scripted series on the Turner network.
Snowpiercer premiered as the No 1 new scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable in 2020. The second season reached 21 million viewers across linear and digital in L+7 viewing, ranking as a Top 5 cable drama.

Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 10
For the fifth time in the history of the show, the titular train of Snowpiercer finds itself under new ownership. Wilford built the thing, and then Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) stole it. She ran it successfully for 7 years, until it was taken over by Layton (Daveed Diggs). Layton’s tenure was not nearly as successful, because a returning Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) hooked up to the tail end of Snowpiercer and took the thing back over, sending Layton and Ruth (Alison Wright) to the compost heap for their troubles. Nevertheless, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and the one thing you can say about Andre Layton is that he doesn’t give up very easily, and he is very willing to get his poop-covered hands even dirtier during violence. And much like last time, he has help up train, and more of it.

Aleks Paunovic stands out in a crowd in many ways. At 6'5" tall, he quite literally towers over most people, but, honestly, it's his incredibly friendly and enthusiastic demeanor that is most memorable.
He is one busy guy and has been for quite a while. The odds are excellent that you've seen him on both small and big screens in his roles on TV shows like Van Helsing, iZombie, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, as well as films like War for the Planet of the Apes, Numb, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
Even just talking over the phone, it's hard not to get swept up in his passionate approach to the various projects he's working on and dreaming about.
Most recently, he's been winning (and breaking) hearts as Breachman Bojan "Boki" Boscovic aboard TNT's hit show, Snowpiercer. With the Snowpiercer Season 2 finale nearing and Season 3 filming already on the way,...

TNT's Snowpiercer Season 2 has been all sorts of crazy, creepy, and cryptic.
From Wilford's return to the unknown goings-on aboard Big Alice to the genuine possibility that the Earth is warming again, it's been a rollercoaster filled with reversals, sudden drops, and dangerous turns.
This was also a season disrupted in real life by the Covid-19 pandemic when a lockdown order shut down production with less than ten days left to shoot, as showrunner Graeme Manson informed us back in July 2020.
But through everything that has happened before and since, an abiding presence has been the Tailie-made-good, Pike, played to opportunistic perfection by Canadian-by-birth, Los Angeleno-by-choice, Steven Ogg.
Ogg recently made the journey up from Los Angeles by car with his dog and was immediately faced with a fourteen-day quarantine before he could get down to work.
So how terrible was the quarantine?
"I don't want to leave quarantine,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the sixth episode of “Snowpiercer” Season 2.
During the first season of TNT’s “Snowpiercer,” Jennifer Connelly spent her days of production crammed on-set with dozens of other performers, all representing the passengers of the titular train, then 1,000 cars long and hurtling around the globe to keep themselves alive amid a climate disaster. The second season, however, sees her much more isolated, as she has ventured out into the snowy tundra to investigate what is happening with the world and with the train, which has now been combined with another to become 1,034 cars long.
The sixth episode of the second season, specifically, provided the Oscar winner with not only a “different rhythm of shooting,” but also a more “authentic” version of the character, she tells Variety.
“The character we spend time with in Episode 6 of Season 2 is a very different...

Keeping in mind that Ten Months elapsed between shooting the finale and the beginning of production for this season's premiere, Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 1 does an over-the-top incredible job with creating continuity between the narratives, literally picking up where they left off.
The finale's three shockers -- Mr. Wilford, Alexandra Cavill, and Big Alice -- gave the premiere a pile of exposition to play with.
And yet, the tension never lets up. Pike's shenanigans might have lightened the mood at times, but I was constantly leaning in, anticipating the next reveal or twist.
Big Alice and everything (and everyone) she carries aboard opens up a whole new world of possibilities for this post-apocalyptic adventure. And Sean Bean is guaranteed to make things interesting.
I'm also a fan of the visual throwbacks to the graphic novel origins they use to bookend the seasons. It's a device that enriches the story-telling aspect of the show,...

Snowpiercer is showing no sign of slowing down at TNT.
The cabler has announced a third season pickup for the post-apocalyptic drama.
Snowpiercer Season 1 debuted as the #1 new cable entertainment program in May with 3.3 million total viewers across TNT and TBS and remains the #1 new cable drama series of 2020.
The series premiere marked TNT's largest premiere since The Alienist in 2018, and the show has reached 32 million viewers to date across TNT's linear and digital platforms.
At the close of Snowpiercer Season 1, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton (Daveed Diggs) emerging as the train's leader.
Discovering Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer.
While she's out there, it's revealed that Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), Melanie's daughter,...
