The Orville both parodies and pays homage to Star Trek and the Next Generation eras, while also taking inspiration from Star Wars to tell a sci-fi comedy story, with the crew of its space-ship going on serialized adventures. Frakes spoke highly of both MacFarlane and his work, saying, "Seth MacFarlane is arguably our biggest celebrity fan."

The first movie's literally called Rise, and [Caesar] leads the apes into this age of freedom and takes them to the promised land, if you will. And then Noa, depending on how things go with the humans, maybe comes to believe that they actually need to know less and starts leading us towards the Dr. Zaius areas of the original film."

Kevin Durand played the big bad, Proximus, in director Wes Balls action adventure this summer, while Peter Macon was tasked with voicing the last living member of the Order of Caesar, aka Raka. A sequel to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes may be on the way. Freya Allan, who portrays Mae in Kingdom, recently teased that 20th Century may be in early development on a follow-up movie.

During an interview with GamesRadar+ at San Diego Comic-Con, Allan provided a brief update regarding a potential sequel to the 2024 sci-fi blockbuster hit. "I know things," she coyly said. While Allan refused to elaborate further, her Kingdom co-star Peter Macon (Raka) noted that the movie ended with plenty of setups for a sequel. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is coming to Hulu on Aug. 2. The fourth installment of the revamped Planet of the Apes franchise, saw Wes Ball take the reins from Matt Reeves, who had directed the prior two films, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Fox rebooted the franchise back in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Ruper Wyatt.
