Fulton Mackay was born on August 12, 1922 in Paisley, Scotland. He was an actor and writer, best known for his portrayal of authoritarian prison warder Mr Mackay in one of the BBC's most popular sitcoms, Porridge (1974), as well as appearing in Local Hero (1983), Raison d'état (1985) and Porridge (1979). He was married to Sheila Manahan. He died on June 6, 1987 in London, England.
