Ali MacLean is an award-winning playwright, filmmaker, and actor who hails from Boston.

Ali studied at the La Jolla Playhouse Conservatory with Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and studied classical theater with Royal Shakespeare Company's Tony Church. Her short films have won awards and screened at many festivals, including Toronto, Palm Springs, Atlanta, Victoria, Maryland, New York's Gen Art series, and have earned Ali a Best Actress nomination at the Method Festival.

Ali's play She's Not There won the 2018 John Gassner award, among others, and was named 2019 Best Production by She NYC Arts. She was nominated for a Broadway World Directing Award for the same play. Her play Wolves At The Door won the Julie Harris playwriting award, was a semi-finalist for the O'Neill National Playwright's Conference.

Her screenplays have been a Chesterfield Writer's Project semi-finalist, an IFP Filmmakers Program finalist, and a Scriptapalooza and Screencraft semi-finalist several times. Her pilot Lady Killer was a WeScreenplay finalist, an Orchard Project Episodic Lab, and won the 2018 Writers For Writers fellowship. Ali is also a member of the Imagine Impact Creative Network, the 2015 Women In Film Mentorship, and a 2020 alumni of the Respectability Lab. Ali won the 2020 David Sedaris Humor Writing Prize and wrote for the 24 Hour Plays Viral Monologues.

Ali has worked as an on-air radio and podcast host and was a popular personality on the cult Los Angeles station Indie 103.1 FM, as well as Sirius, Little Radio, and many online outlets. She is a published author.
