Biography

Was born at the farm of his parents Selma and Per Lønning. Lived there until he was 15, then he went to sea. Started journalist-college in the beginning of 1970. Started to work in television in the beginning of the 1980s where he was a sports reorter/commentator. Throughout the 80s he did radio and television work for NRK. He was a newsreader for NRKs "Dagsrevyen". In 1991 he co-starred with Marit Christensen in the show For galleriet (1992). It was the biggest hit on Norwegian telvesion ever. In 1993 he jumped to TVNorge where he starred with lawyer Tor Erling Staff in the show "Klart Svar". Around 1995 he started to work for TV2 with the same show, but now under the name _"Lønning Direkte" (1993)_. In 1997 he got his very own show, Sentrum (1997). "Sentrum was on the air for 3 years when in 2000 it was replaced with "Tabloid" with host Pål T. Jørgensen. That same year Per Ståle Lønning won the People's choice Awards at "Gullruten". He is currently editing his new show. A fishing program which is going to air Spring 2002. He is married to Gro Lønning and they have two sons Jens (20) and Simel (16).
