- Jesús López Cobos was born on February 25, 1940 in Toro, Zamora, Castilla y León, Spain. He was a director and actor, known for Elle (2016), La Nuit des chauves-souris (1999) and El dúo de la africana (2004). He died on March 2, 2018 in Berlin, Germany.
- He was a Spanish conductor, holding several music director positions at leading orchestras throughout his long career. He was the music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from 1986 to 2001, making several highly-regarded recordings on the Telarc label. He was also general music director of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, music director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, and music director of the Teatro Real in Madrid.
