John G. Lynch operated a chain of theaters in Utica, Syracuse, Albany and Rochester, New York before coming to Hollywood around 1917 to work for Thomas H. Ince as a script writer. In all he was said to have worked on some 800 scripts and stories over his 19 year career in Hollywood. At the time of his death, Lynch was working for MGM as an editorial supervisor. He was survived by his wife Eleanor.
