Although David Lynch died before he could bring his final script to the screen, his family hopes to share the work with his fans.
Following the honorary Oscar winner’s death at age 78 in January, his daughter Jennifer Lynch recently addressed the limited series, tentatively titled Unrecorded Night, which he was developing for Netflix in his final years.
“None of us ever tried to make his series in his place,” Jennifer told The Times. “We are considering offering that as a published piece, so that people can sit with his ideas. It would be very sad if people didn’t get to see it.”
After David Lynch died of cardiac arrest following an emphysema diagnosis, Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos revealed that the Twin Peaks creator “came into Netflix to pitch a limited series, which we jumped at,” adding that he will “always wonder about what he had in mind for...

Patricia Arquette recently worked with the late David Lynch’s daughter Jennifer Lynch, and she said she felt the spirit of the legendary filmmaker come through her during their interactions — specifically regarding one particular habit.
“I heard David in my head, ‘You gotta make her quit smoking, Arquette,’ and so I was telling her, ‘your dad wants me to tell you… like my ‘Medium’ self-came out,” Arquette told IndieWire at the Tribeca Film Festival, referencing the psychic character she played on the hit drama from 2005-2011.
Arquette teased to IndieWire that she recently worked with Jennifer Lynch on a project, though didn’t reveal which. Jennifer Lynch has become a prolific director in her own right, working frequently on television series such as “Matlock,” “Monsters,” and “American Horror Story.” Her father died in January from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which resulted from his own lifelong smoking habit.

David Lynch was apparently ready to get back to work with his longtime collaborators Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, and Naomi Watts before his passing. Lynch’s daughter Jennifer Lynch told The Times that the trio of actors, all of whom have appeared in numerous Lynch projects, were tentatively going to star in shelved Netflix series “Unrecorded Night.” The script for the show, which Lynch completed prior to his death at age 78 in January 2025, might still be released as a book instead.
“I was sworn to secrecy but yes, I’m sure Kyle [MacLachlan] would have been part of it,” Jennifer Lynch said of the show. “And Laura [Dern], and Naomi [Watts]. He loved to play with his friends.”
Jennifer Lynch added that despite being a filmmaker herself, “Unrecorded Night” will not be made by any of the Lynch children…and most likely, not by any other director either. “None of us ever tried...

The world of movies was shaken by the death of David Lynch in January, with both the visionary director’s peers and fans left feeling that something big had vanished from their lives overnight. Now, three months later, they have somewhere to go to remember the legendary filmmaker when they get the chance, as Lynch’s daughter, Jennifer, unveiled his simple but enigmatic gravestone and urged people to visit whenever they like.
How is Lynch’s gravestone as enigmatic as the director? Other than his name and years of birth and death, the only other text on the stone reads, “Night Blooming Jasmine.” It could almost be a line spoken by one of the mysterious characters to inhabit Twin Peaks…and that is not actually too far from the truth. The three words were actually spoken by Lynch in an interview back in 2016, when he discussed what it felt like...

The following contains spoilers from 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 10, "Voices," which debuted Thursday, March 13 on ABC.
In hindsight, 9-1-1 naming its missing child detective "Amber" should've been indicative that Maddie Buckley's kidnapping would've been full of cliché. Continuing off the previous episode's cliffhanger ending, Season 8, Episode 10 of 9-1-1 gets straight to the source of the problem. Amber Braeburn (portrayed by Abigail Spencer) has tied Maddie up in her basement for a mean death. In the meantime, Maddie discovers why Amber has been living a double life, and Chimney gets to the bottom of Maddie's disappearance.
"Voices" plays similarly to another Maddie kidnapping episode, Season 2, Episode 13, "Fight of Flight." It's déjà vu for Maddie and the gang, except this time, the rescuers don't have the slightest idea who is behind the crime, and Maddie's mental health history gives Amber a convenient cover story. The problematic story doesn't pay off the fantastic build-up,...

This article contains spoilers for 9-1-1 season 8, episode 10, "Voices."
9-1-1 star Ryan Guzman seemingly confirms that Eddie Diaz will be back in the 118. 9-1-1 season 8, episode 10, "Voices," largely deals with the fallout from Maddie's abduction at the hands of a twisted killer. But it also ends with an emotional farewell between Eddie (Guzman) and Buck (Oliver Stark), with Guzman's character moving to Texas to reunite with his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh).
In a post-episode interview with TheWrap, Guzman seemingly confirms that Eddie's time in Texas is temporary. At one point during the interview, he says: “We will be in Texas for a bit. The end goal is to get Eddie back to the 118, but we’ll see what happens.” The actor leaves just enough doubt in his response. However, when asked directly, Guzman doesn't deny that Eddie will try to convince Christopher to return to Los Angeles.

When Abigail Spencer showed up to film an episode of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer in 2007, series star Jennifer Love Hewitt already knew exactly who she was.
It’s a moment Spencer tells TVLine she’ll never forget: “I walk on set and she’s like, ‘You’re the girl!’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fired.’ She marches right up to me in her spunky way and goes, ‘You’re the girl everyone tells me I look like.’ I was dying. I was like, ‘No, Jennifer Love Hewitt. Nobody tells you that you look like Abigail Spencer because nobody knows who I am.

The late filmmaker David Lynch's iconic TV series Twin Peaksrevolves principally around a simple question: Who killed Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee)? However, as the show's protagonist, FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), soon learns, answering this question is impossible without first answering a far broader question: Who was Laura Palmer? To that end, Cooper spends the show's entire first season and part of its second season gradually becoming acquainted with each of Twin Peaks' colorfully eccentric residents, learning everything he can about Laura's life and relationships in hopes of finding her killer - which he ultimately (and controversially) does.
Yet, despite the vast amount of information that the show reveals about Laura, one perspective remains noticeably absent from the show: that of Laura herself. While Lynch would partially rectify this omission in his polarizing prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992), which depicts the terrifying final week of Laura's life,...

Say what you want about Ryan Murphy, but he always seems to be thinking about the best way to make his television empire thrive. Before today, there was no indication that his popular procedural series 9-1-1 and his newest endeavor, Doctor Odyssey, shared a universe, but that's all set to change as the worlds of his two ABC series are about to collide.
Per Variety, 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey will cross over in a special episode of the latter that will see Angela Bassett's character, Athena Grant from 9-1-1, head over to the cruise ship on Doctor Odyssey led by Joshua Jackson's Dr. Max Bankman. Doctor Odyssey focuses on a different themed cruise in each episode, and this particular crossover event will take place during Casino Week on the ship, which will see Bassett's Athena suspecting two passengers of trying to Ocean's 11 the ship's vault.

Being the child of an iconic artist like David Lynch comes with a lot of pressure, especially if you plan on making movies. Jennifer Lynch's Golden Raspberry-winning erotic thriller Boxing Helena bombed hard at the box office and took a beating from critics who couldn't stomach its outrageous story about a rogue surgeon who removes a woman's limbs. The young director went dark for 15 years after this distressing experience — but she returned with the stunningly original Surveillance, a must-see for fans of mind-bending horror.
Besides having big shoes to fill, Jennifer Lynch was just 19 years old when she began production on the movie that would thrust her into the public eye. Boxing Helena was a big swing in every way, and whether or not she deserved her Razzie for Worst Director, it remains a fascinating example of extreme cinema that could only come from a truly daring filmmaker. 15 years...

It can take just a generation for a family name to go from Oscar darling to Razzie frontrunner.
Case in point: Jake Kasdan’s Christmas-themed “Red One” landed in theaters on Nov. 15 with a thud louder than Santa’s sleigh hitting a rooftop. The Dwayne Johnson–Chris Evans pairing, which chronicles the bid to rescue Old Saint Nick after he is kidnapped from the North Pole on Christmas Eve, has mustered just $175 million worldwide to date despite a colossal $250 million budget. For Kasdan, the son of four-time Oscar nominee Lawrence Kasdan, the “Red One” reviews were even harsher than the box office, with the film receiving a 30% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Kasdan — whose track record outside “Red One” was enviable, with $2.5 billion in box office from the recent “Jumanji” films and others — was far from alone this year. The past 12 months have featured a procession of underperformers and downright embarrassments...

Over the past three years, Max Winkler has become near-synonymous with the expanding Ryan Murphy TV portfolio. The indie filmmaker and TV director has helmed episodes of six different Murphy productions during this brief period, most recently tackling the bulk of FX’s Grotesquerie and a pivotal episode of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story for Netflix.
Winkler is already at work on their next collaboration. He’ll serve as director and executive producer on the yet-to-be-titled third installment of the Monster franchise, which turns its focus to 1950s serial killer Ed Gein. The project isn’t just a reunion for Winkler, Murphy and co-creator Ian Brennan; Winkler was instrumental in bringing on another past associate: the series’ lead. Charlie Hunnam, who previously starred in Winkler’s 2019 boxing drama Jungleland, is playing Gein. And Winkler is already quite bullish on how it’s coming together.

The following contains spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 1, "Buzzkill," which premiered Thursday, Sept. 26 on ABC.
There have been fire-nados and there have been shark-nados. The 9-1-1 Season 8 premiere gives Twisters and Sharknado a run for their money with the most important tornado for the planet: the bee-nado. Except, the bee-nado doesn't really do anything. There are several million killer bees running wild in 9-1-1's Los Angeles right now, but there isn't a bee-nado swooping up cows or pulling off rooftops. There's still time for a bee-nado to do carnage, however, as the exasperating cliffhanger of the 9-1-1 Season 8 premiere suggests.
Yes, bees are the opening disaster for Season 8. In nearly every season of 9-1-1, the premiere episode closes with a life-or-death cliffhanger that sets the tone for the rest of the season. It's par for the course with the unluckiest first responders in the world,...

The Log Lady's intros are a crucial part of Twin Peaks, offering cryptic clues and grounding in the show's chaotic narrative. The absence of these intros on streaming platforms is a significant loss for both new and returning viewers. Margaret's musings provide key clues and insights into the show's universe, hinting at events and character developments.
The enigmatic allure of Twin Peaks is inextricably linked to the presence of the Log Lady. Her cryptic prophecies and otherworldly wisdom serve as a cornerstone of the show's surreal atmosphere. Jennifer Lynch's book, The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, foreshadows major reveals of Twin Peaks season 2 and adds layers of complexity to Laura's character. The book, part of the show's compelling narrative, reveals the extent of Laura's secrecy before being explored in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Jennifer Lynch's convincing writing style embodies Laura Palmer's voice and reveals darker depths, uncovering exploitation and hypocrisy in Twin Peaks characters.

Two years before the prequel Twin Peaks movie Fire Walk With Me, Jennifer Lynch showed off her writing chops at the start of her filmmaking career with a Twin Peaks companion book. “I wanted it to be alive more than anything, and there to be a sense of real delight and weirdness,” reveals “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” composer Julia Newman about her score for the FX limited series. For our recent webchat she adds, “What I love so much about this show is that there’s no good guys, but we empathize at different moments with all of the characters. Everyone inhabits a real humanness and in inhabiting that humanness, of course, everybody is flawed. I loved the idea of Truman Capote always listening, always with the typewriter going on, as everybody was always scheming. It’s actually part of what makes the story so powerful. As shallow as human beings can get and as deep as human beings can get, what does it mean to be on your deathbed and to regret a friendship lost? That’s so profound. So,...

‘AHS: Delicate’ enters early labor with a fun, frenzied episode that finds the perfect tone and goes for broke as its water breaks.
“I’ll figure it out. Women always do.”
American Horror Story is no stranger to remixing real-life history with ludicrous, heightened Murphy-isms, whether it’s AHS: 1984’s incorporation of Richard Ramirez, AHS: Cult’s use of Valerie Solanas, or AHS: Coven’s prominent role for the Axeman of New Orleans. Accordingly, it’s very much par for the course for AHS: Delicate to riff on other pop culture touchstones and infinitely warp them to its wicked whims. That being said, it takes real guts to do a postmodern feminist version of Rosemary’s Baby and then actually put Mia Farrow – while she’s filming Rosemary’s Baby, no less – into the narrative. This is the type of gonzo bullshit that I want out of American Horror Story!

‘AHS: Delicate’ turns out its best episode of the season with a flashback-focused installment that recants Adeline’s brutal backstory.
“We don’t have to stay where we’re born…”
Hestia, the namesake of AHS: Delicate’s antepenultimate episode of the season, is the Greek goddess of the hearth, home, and hospitality. This may seem like a benign thing to celebrate, but what is a family without a proper home? A home is the safe support system that keeps a family secure. To take this one step further, what is a womb if not a baby’s first home before they’re thrust into the world? Hestia is regarded as a goddess who’s both soft and strong, which are extremes that are forced upon every mother, whether it’s Anna, Adeline, or even Ivy. It’s a fundamental dichotomy that very likely will be the key to Anna’s...

David Lynch isn't deterred by Netflix's rejection of his animated feature Snootworld. Snootworld tells the story of tiny creatures with magical adventures, created by Lynch and Caroline Thompson over two decades. Lynch and Thompson's unique fairy tale may not align with current animation trends but still holds promise for audiences.
Director David Lynch isn't letting one rejection kill his Snootworld. In a recent conversation with Deadline, the iconic filmmaker shared that Netflix had rejected his pitch for an animated feature. Snootworld is a collaboration between Lynch and Caroline Thompson, whose credits include writing The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, and Welcome to Marwen. Thompson scribed Acts One and Three of Snootworld, while Lynch completed Act Two. The feature has been two decades in the making.
Lynch and Thompson are currently seeking financial backing for the film after Netflix turned down the "fairytale."

A couple decades ago, legendary filmmaker David Lynch – who we have to thank for Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, the 1984 version of Dune, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive, among other things – started working with The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, The Addams Family, and Welcome to Marwen writer Caroline Thompson on the screenplay for an animated movie called Snootworld… and even though the Netflix streaming service recently turned down the chance to bring Snootworld into our world, Lynch told Deadline that he’s not giving up on getting the movie made.
Lynch said, “I don’t know when I started thinking about Snoots but I’d do these drawings of Snoots and then a story started to emerge. I got together with Caroline and we worked on a script. Just recently I thought someone might be interested in getting behind this...

David Lynch's animated film Snootworld has been rejected by Netflix, but he still plans to create it with co-creator Caroline Thompson. Snootworld's story involves tiny creatures who have a unique upbringing. The hero of the story gets lost in a carpet. Lynch's dedication to the project over two decades is a different direction from his usual work, but contains enough surrealism for it to be an interesting future endeavor.
David Lynch's animated film Snootworld is not moving forward at Netflix, but the creator has revealed more details about the family film. Lynch is best known for his surrealist filmmaking, applied to his best-known work such as Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, and Mulholland Drive. His latest work in film and television was a series of short films in 2020, though he has also produced an assortment of web content since then.

David Lynch is claiming Netflix didn’t want to greenlight his “wacky” animated feature, “Snootworld.”
The “Twin Peaks” and “Blue Velvet” auteur told Deadline that his long-awaited animated debut has been two decades in the process. Lynch co-wrote the script with “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “The Addams Family” scribe Caroline Thompson; the feature has a strict three act structure, with Lynch penning act two.
Lynch revealed that Netflix allegedly “rejected” the project most likely since “old fashioned fairytales are considered groaners.” IndieWire has reached out to Netflix.
“I don’t know when I started thinking about Snoots but I’d do these drawings of Snoots and then a story started to emerge,” Lynch told Deadline. “I got together with Caroline and we worked on a script. Just recently I thought someone might be interested in getting behind this so I presented it to Netflix in the last few months but they rejected it.

“American Horror Story: Delicate” Part 2 appears to be full steam ahead thanks to Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian enjoying a kiss in the just-released video trailer (watch below). FX’s horror anthology series returns on Wednesday, April 3 with the first of its final four episodes of Season 12. Note that “AHS” was split into two parts for this installment because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes that shuttered Hollywood for much of the 2023 calendar year.
The first five episodes of “American Horror Story: Delicate” aired in September-October, telling the story of an up-and-coming actress named Anna Victoria Alcott (Roberts) who’s campaigning on the awards circuit while dealing with supernatural pregnancy issues. Kardashian plays her foul-mouthed publicist, Siobhan Corbyn, and Matt Czuchry takes on the role of her husband, Dex Harding. In the new clip, Siobhan seems surprised to see Anna chomping on an animal bone.

Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, episode 7, titled Beautiful Babe, directed by Jennifer Lynch, portrayed the end of the prolonged cold war between Truman and his soulmate, Babe Paley. In the penultimate episode of the series, we witnessed the deaths of both Babe and Truman, with only a few years separating their demise. This episode has the most eloquently written and well-executed storytelling amongst all the other episodes in this series, as it not only focuses on the deaths of these celebrated figures but also portrays how death has liberated them from all the earthly torments, criticisms, and boundaries. Let’s dive deep into this episode to know if Babe and Truman allowed themselves to be there for each other at the very end of their lives.

I’m trying to decrease my usage of “good” and “bad” when discussing art. They are lazy shortcuts that distill creativity into the simplest qualitative assessments as if art is worth boiling down to a pure binary outlook. It’s why whenever any movie is widely labeled “good,” I can’t help but approach it with some increased skepticism. Conversely, “bad” movies always pique my interest, and I’m more likely to look deeper for their successful elements than what I find from the consensus.
This is the case with Boxing Helena, a film brutally derided in that repellant way critics love when they taste blood in the water. The directing and feature writing debut of Jennifer Lynch, Boxing Helena was savaged across the board and overshadowed by legal battles involving major stars who dropped out of the Helena role. With the film never making the leap from DVD and no official digital release available,...

Truman Capote wanted to title the book he was working on until his death, Answered Prayers — as in: “More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones” — and the trailer for the miniseries Feud: Capote Vs. the Swans shows just how true that is. The series, which premieres on FX and Hulu at 10 p.m. on Jan. 31, will trace how Capote, played by Tom Hollander, became a social pariah by writing about his New York socialite friends in the few chapters of Answered Prayers that actually made it into the public.

Ryan Murphy’s “Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans” shatters the social hierarchy of 1960s elite New York, one betrayal at a time.
Season 2 of the anthology series centers on acclaimed writer Truman Capote (Tom Hollander), once a confidante to society’s most elite women, whom he nicknamed “the swans.” However, his act of betrayal effectively destroyed those relationships, banished him from high society and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.
Per the official synopsis, “Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society...

They met while shooting his 2006 film, Inland Empire. They married in February 2009, two years after his divorce with fellow director Mary Sweeney.
Previous to Sweeny, Lynch was married to Peggy Lunch from 1967 to 1974. Later, he married Mary Fisk, and they were married from 1977 to 1987.
Stofle was also in Lynch’s limited series Peaks: The Return in 2017.
The 45-year-old actress initiated the divorce and made several demands on her petition.
The split has reportedly not been amicable, as Stofle has asked the court to grant sole legal and physical custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Lula Lynch.
She is agreeable with Lynch having visitation rights to their daughter.
