Marla Lukofsky is one of the pioneers of stand-up comedy in Canada. Best known for her signature piece 'The Wizard of Oz' in 3 minutes, she wowed the audiences mimicking all the voices, songs and sound effects with accuracy and speed in under 200 seconds. At the age of 16, she worked her way up the ranks of cabarets and nightclubs starting as a funny folksinger and eventually focusing on stand-up , becoming one of Canada's most popular headlining comedians on the circuit in the 70's, 80'S and 90's. The Toronto Star called Marla Lukofsky, "A captivating story teller with lightning-quick comic timing." The Globe and Mail called her, "A suave stylish comedian." Eye Magazine called her "The Mini Mistress of Mirth". Over the past 40 years Marla Lukofsky has performed her stand-up routine in every major city in Canada, the United States, England and Scotland. She also was the first female comic ever to headline at Yuk Yuk's in Bermuda. Lukofsky also represented Canada in the 'International Comedy Festival' and 'Mayfest Festival' in the UK. In 1990 Marla was one of the headliners at 'The Molson Canadian Comedy Relief Festival'. A veteran of Television and Radio, Marla's stand-up television credits include 'An Evening at the Improv', 'Variety Tonite', 'The Palace' with Jack Jones and 'The Alan Thicke Show'. As an actor, she's starred in such films as 'Honeymoon', 'Young Again' and 'Zero Patience' as well as many TV shows like 'The Twilight Zone', 'Seeing Things', 'T&T' and 'Doc'. As a writer/columnist, Marla appeared on such shows as CBC's news show 'Midday' with Valerie Pringle and Keith Morrison where she was the regular last word columnist completing 100 segments, CBC radio's 'Basic Black' with Arthur Black (where she voiced her radio collection of 3 minute movies like 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Gone with the Wind', and 'The Sound of Music' ),'The Vicki Gabereau Show' and 'Fresh Air'. She was a frequent guest on Newstalk 1010 with Ted Woloshyn. As a stand-up comedian she's shared the stage with the likes of Jim Carrey, Howie Mandel, Kenny Robinson and Sherri Shepherd. Marla was also a proud member of 'Second City' for one whole month until they realized she wasn't Andrea Martin and asked her to leave. On Saturday mornings, you can hear Marla's voice on 'Pecola', 'Fugget About It', 'Rupert', 'Alf Tales', and 'The Care Bears' cartoon series as Good Luck Bear and Playful Heart Monkey. Marla Lukofsky is also a powerful Keynote Speaker, Writer, and Cancer Survivor. Her one-person show "I'm Still Here...and so is my Hair!", about her breast cancer journey, received rave reviews across North America. As a writer, her articles and essays have been published in various medical journals including 'Cell2Soul', 'International Journal User-Driven Healthcare', 'Online Journal of Community and Person-Centered Dermatology' and 'Health Story Collaborative'. Ms. Lukofsky also has two TEDx Talks to her credit, one in Toronto and the other in India. In 2015 Marla turned her attention to singing Jazz combining her unique sense of humor with her smooth jazz styling. She appeared at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival to a sold out crowd in 2016. Marla has an active YouTube and TikTok page and continues to make people laugh wherever she goes.
