The 2012 best-selling novel "Gone Girl" is an absolutely haunting crime thriller, right down to its memorable ending, as it explores the twisted marriage between its lead characters. The novel is written by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote the acclaimed 2014 film adaptation directed by David Fincher, effectively introducing one of cinema's best villains to the spotlight. The all-around success surrounding "Gone Girl" fueled a wave of similar thrillers in film and television, often also told from a female protagonist's perspective. Flynn herself has had a hand in several of these productions to varying degrees, including having her other novels get adapted for the screen.

Suspect Charged with Homicide of Pastor and Her Two Grandsons ‘May Have Fled the State’
A family friend is suspected in the triple homicide of a pastor and her two grandsons, according to Sacramento police.

The suspect, Jerod Michael Watson, 52, was issued a felony warrant by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office charging him with triple homicide.

Watson was dating Twanna Lucas, the pastor’s daughter and mother of the two deceased males. Lucas returned home on Saturday night to find her mother and sons dead in a housing complex in south Sacramento, according to CBS News.

Sacramento police said Watson’s whereabouts are unknown and that it is possible he may have fled the state.
