    • Siegfried Lowitz was born on September 22, 1914 in Berlin, Germany. He was an actor, known for Le renard (1977), Dr. M schlägt zu (1972) and Biedermann und die Brandstifter (1967). He was married to Marianne Probst and Elisabeth Felber. He died on June 27, 1999 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

Trivia

  • Served as a grenadier with the 7th Panzer Division during World War II. Was invalided out in 1943.
  • German character actor. Appeared in cabaret and was ensemble member at the Munich Kammerspiele during the early 1950's, where he made his breakthrough in the role of Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny". This led to film and television offers. He specialised in crime films, often as police officers (Inspektor Elle in Edgar Wallace films of the 50's and early 60's). He was best-known in the recurring role of imperturbable, pipe-smoking Hauptkommissar Erwin Köster in Le renard (1977).
