    Lean, intense German actor, on stage from the age of sixteen and for seven years ensemble member of the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. During the 1950's and 60's, he starred in a wide variety of everyman roles, gaining much exposure in made-for-television dramas and comedies. A naturally gifted actor, he died tragically young (aged 37) of a renal ailment and subsequently acquired a cult following.
