    Virile English leading actor, trained at the Hampshire School of Acting and on stage from 1959. Mainly acting for the small screen, he is best remembered for playing Detective Sergeant (later Detective Inspector) Moffat in Z Cars (1962), MI6 operative Willie Caine in the espionage series The Sandbaggers (1978) and undercover agent Ray Brown in Le tueur de Belfast (1982). He was also active as a voice-over artist for audio books, commercials and animated children's series.
