‘American Idol’s Baylee Littrell Reveals How Carrie Underwood Inspired His New Music
Image
Baylee Littrell was eliminated before the Top 14 in Season 23 of American Idol, but he’s still pursuing a career in music now that his time on the show is over. Following the release of his new song “Hey Jesus,” the son of Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell opened up about what direction he’s heading in … and how Carrie Underwood has inspired him. “One cool thing Carrie Underwood told me, she said, ‘Dude, you are your own genre, so don’t try to pigeonhole yourself and try to create it,'” Littrell told Music Mayhem. While he mostly performed country music on the singing competition, he’s now adding other sounds, including gospel elements, to his songs. “I’m still taking the elements of country where I’ve been for the last seven years and implementing that towards more signer-songwriter soft rock elements,” he continued. “I’m taking from a...

Tears, Spaceships and Nostalgia: How Backstreet Boys “Pushed the Limits” of Las Vegas’ Sphere With “Mind-Boggling” Residency Launch
Image
“This is insane. I’m losing my mind,” Aj McLean told a sold-out crowd at Sphere Las Vegas on opening night of the Backstreet Boys’ Into the Millennium residency. “I’ve cried at least four times since we’ve been up here.”

McLean wasn’t the only band member overcome with emotion during Friday’s nostalgic, otherworldly trip down memory lane. Kevin Richardson became so choked up he couldn’t sing his verse of “The Perfect Fan,” while Brian Littrell cried next.

Nick Carter was meanwhile fighting tears before he even rose onstage for 1999’s anthem “Larger Than Life,” which had audience members seemingly dancing through space while dodging meteorites thanks to Sphere’s immersive visuals.

“As I was about to come up, I started breaking down and crying because it was so emotional and surreal,” Carter told THR in an exclusive interview. “We’ve been together so long and...

Image
Brian Littrell is suing.

The 50-year-old Backstreet Boys singer filed a lawsuit against Walton County, Florida, accusing the sheriff’s department of refusing to keep trespassers off of his private beach.

The singer claimed that to protect the “peaceful enjoyment” of his property, his limited liability company, Blb Beach Hut LLC, has put up “no trespassing” signs as well as tables, chairs and umbrellas showing where the property line starts on the beach, per Fox News Digital.

Keep reading to find out more…

He wrote that the efforts have been “in vain, as numerous trespassers have set out to antagonize, bully and harass the Littrell family by regularly, every day, trespassing on Blb’s beach, on the Subject Property, in open defiance of the law.”

Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell Admits He Didn’t Want Son Baylee to Audition for ‘American Idol’
Image
Baylee Littrell had the support of dad Brian Littrell and mom Leighanne Littrell during his American Idol journey earlier this year. The proud parents watched him make it all the way to the Top 20 before being eliminated. However, the Backstreet Boys singer initially didn’t even want his only child to audition for the show. “To be honest with you, I didn’t want him to do it at first, but they courted him for a couple of years,” Brian told Parade. “They were like, ‘Come and audition,’ and he was like, ‘Nah.’ I don’t think he was ready at that time, but he did well. He stepped up. He’s super professional. He’s just a great individual. He’s just a great person. He has a heart of gold, and he’s super talented.” Brian was in the audition room when Baylee got his golden ticket to Hollywood from judges Carrie Underwood,...

‘American Idol’ judges and viewers don’t want it that way: Baylee Littrell, son of a Backstreet Boy, is eliminated
Image
There was an absolute bloodbath on Monday's episode of American Idol, with the number of contestants dropping from 20 to 14. Among the unfortunate was Baylee Littrell, the son of Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys.

The 22-year old singer from Alpharetta, Ga., performed "All of Me" by John Legend as his "save me" song after failing to make it through via the viewers' overnight vote. America's top 10 vote-getters all advanced, and then the three judges — Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie — got to pick the other four. They had nothing but positive comments about Baylee's latest rendition, but alas, it wasn't enough to keep him in the competition.

The night before, Baylee had belted out "Gone Without Goodbye," a song written by his father following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In an emotional moment, Baylee revealed to America that his mother was supposed to be on one of the airplanes that crashed that fateful day.

‘American Idol’ Fans Support Baylee Littrell After ‘Nepo Baby’ Criticism
Image
Baylee Littrell is making a name for himself on Season 23 of American Idol. The country artist, whose dad is Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell, has made it to the Top 24 and will perform for America’s votes for the first time. But with his rising stardom has come the negative side of fame, making Baylee susceptible to negative comments and criticism online. Many American Idol viewers have theorized that nepotism played a part in judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan‘s decision to push him through Hollywood week and into the top 24. However, many others have also jumped to Baylee’s defense from the critics and doubters. One Reddit commenter said that they don’t think being a “nepo baby” has had much of an impact on how well Baylee’s done in the competition. “They didn’t even show his showstopper [round] performance and they’ve [criticized] him more...

A Backstreet Boys Member Gets Emotional Watching His Son Perform in ‘American Idol’ Sneak Peek
Image
American Idol is moving ahead with full steam, and recently, Backstreet Boys’ member Brian Littrell was spotted once again singing along to his son Baylee Littrell’s song “Hey Jesus” with his emotions pouring out — although the song was being performed publicly on such a big stage for the first time.

Baylee went on to sing this song he had written for his late grandmother during the March 31, 2025, episode of American Idol Season 23. Before starting, Baylee revealed that he was very close to his grandmother and that it was her who he’d spend time with while his father was away touring. However, her passing caught him by surprise, and it pushed him away from faith. He further added that the song, “Hey Jesus,” was written after her passing and it’s the song that helped him find that “faith” again. As soon as he started singing, everybody instantly related to the song,...

American Idol Eliminates Half of Season 23 in Hollywood Week — Did Your Favorites Survive the Arena?
Image
“Can’t we just keep them all?” Carrie Underwood asked during Monday’s American Idol, which marked her first time suffering through Hollywood Week from the other side of the judges’ table.

And her stress was completely understandable. Having to narrow 144 singers down to 62 would have anyone crying out for Jesus to take the wheel — not to mention the added pressure that came up with the return of the Idol “Arena,” a musical lion’s den in which each contestant performed at random while surrounded by their entire competition.

‘American Idol’ Nepo Contestants, From the Son of a Backstreet Boy to a Country Legend’s Grandchild and More
Image
American Idol kicked off Sunday night with its annual promise: to serve as a launching pad for aspiring young musical talent. But some contestants already have a head start with a familiar advantage: the lineage of a famous family.

Season 23 rolled out its first “nepo baby” with Baylee Littrell, son of Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell, who auditioned in front of judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

“There’s something about you that looks familiar,” Underwood said to the 22-year-old Georgia hopeful.

Idol didn’t hide Baylee’s background, it leaned into it: showing footage of dad Brian introducing him onstage and performing, and a photo of Underwood with Backstreet Boys posters on her wall.

Brian Littrell made the case for his son, saying that being the progeny of a famous singer isn’t exactly a perk. Still, it didn’t hurt his chances either, as he earned...

The Backstreet Boys just delivered a live rendition of their 1999 hit “I Want It That Way” with a little help from … Jerry Seinfeld?!

The one-of-a-kind performance took place during the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert on Friday night. Original boyband members Aj McLean, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, and Brian Littrell performed for a packed house including former Saturday Night Live cast members, hosts, and musical guests.

Near the end of “I Want It That Way,” Littrell ran into the A-list audience and stuck his microphone in front of Seinfeld’s face. To the surprise of many, the 70-year-old comedian started singing the lyrics along with Littrell — and yes, Seinfeld even appeared to know all of the words.

‘Dirty Pop’ Netflix Review: An Unnecessary AI-fication Of A Dead Person’s Voice
Image
There’s something I need to put out in the open at the outset. The infamous Lou Perlman, the focal point of Netflix’s latest docuseries Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam, died in 2016, eight years prior to the release. There is real footage of Perlman that has been used in the documentary, but his words are AI-generated. They’re from Perlman’s autobiography Band, Brands & Billions alright, but it’s still not the man actually talking. Sure, the makers are entitled to take such artistic liberties, but this feels like cheating to me. We’re going to address this later, but first, let us look into what the three-part docuseries is all about.

What Happens in the Documentary?

“Backstreet Boys” and “NSync” are some of the most popular nineties boy bands known all over the world, but how many of you know the man who was orchestrating the show?...

The 5 Women Who Married the Backstreet Boys
Image
From "I Want It That Way" to "I'll Never Break Your Heart," the Backstreet Boys are known for their hit love songs, but what do their personal love lives look like? Over the years, all five members of the group - Aj McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell - have gotten married and started families of their own.

Most of the band members actually have really sweet stories of how they met their wives. One of them actually met their significant other on the set of a Backstreet Boys music video, while another met his wife before Backstreet Boys fame when he was still working at Disney World. And apparently, tours are now often family affairs.

"We have a family room backstage for the family and the wives and the kids to hang out in," Richardson told People in 2018. "It used to be the VIP room,...
