    • Harry Liedtke was born on October 12, 1882 in Königsberg, East Prussia, Germany [now Kaliningrad, Russia]. He was an actor, known for Le favori de la Reine (1923), Rêve d'un jour (1929) and L'homme sans nom (1921). He was married to Käthe Dorsch, Ernestine Emaline Johanne Proft, Christa Tordy and Hanne Schutt. He died on April 28, 1945 in Bad Saarow, Brandenburg, Germany.

  • On 28 April 1945 Liedtke was killed by Red Army Soldiers in his house at Bad Saarow-Pieskow -east of Berlin- together with his third wife Christa Tordy. One of the Russians smashed a bottle over his head when he tried to save a young woman who had taken shelter in his apartment from being raped.
  • Prolific German character actor, one of eleven children born to a merchant. Grew up in an orphanage after his father's death. Worked in retail for a while then studied acting. Worked at the New German Theatre in New York City in 1908 and in 1909 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. Appeared in heroic roles in silent romances and melodramas, often acting in as many as ten films per year. He earned up to 1500 Mark per day, making him the highest paid star of German film in his day.
  • When the sound movie arose the career of Liedtke slackened off. His voice turned out to be unsuitable. He got often supporting roles, leading roles were left over more rarely.
  • Harry Liedtke and his wife Christa Tordy were teared away from live on 28th April 1945. During the invasion of the "Red Army" they were both killed in their house by soldiers.
  • Harry Liedtke developed into one of the first male stars of the German movie.
