Elon Musk’s X Sets First UK Original With In-Season Docuseries On Premier League Club Burnley
Image
Elon Musk’s X has set its first UK Original in the shape of docuseries Keeping The Faith about Premier League club Burnley, we can reveal.

The deal is a first-of-its kind for X with a Premier League club, and will feature 20 episodes (10-12 mins each) released fortnightly during the upcoming season. This is a departure from previous soccer docs such as Welcome to Wrexham which were released after the season had ended.

The show will capture Burnley’s first-team players, staff and leadership behind the scenes at the training ground, stadium Turf Moor and inside the dressing room throughout the season. There’s due to be real-time content and streaming material as part of the deal. Adhoc Films is producing.

Jonathan Lewis, X Corporation’s UK Managing Director, said the deal marked the “launch of our X UK: A New Chapter strategy.” The strategy, X said, is to support key voices in sport,...

Tortoise Media launches latest three-part podcast series, Making sense of Sustainable Farming
Image
Tortoise Media is to launch its latest podcast, Making sense of Sustainable Farming, a new three-part series exploring how we feed Britain while safeguarding the environment and creating a financially viable future for farmers.

Farming has been central to British life for centuries, but over the past century the industry has undergone dramatic changes. Following the Second World War the UK prioritised food security and adopted policies to maximise production for a growing population. Today, farmers face a new set of challenges – with climate change, policy shifts and global uncertainties transforming the agricultural landscape.

The three-part podcast series, supported by Lloyds Banking Group, speaks to farmers and experts at the forefront of the shift toward sustainable farming. It explores innovative approaches and solutions that balance food production with environmental stewardship and fair incomes for farmers.

Jeevan Vasagar, Editor at Tortoise, said: “The story of farming today is about resilience and reinvention.

Do You Know What You Should About "The First World War"?
The first world war began almost by accident. It ended just as strangely.

The series begins where most every retelling begins, with Gavrilo Princip, the assassin who killed Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. But it begins with an image of Belgrade today, where Princip took his gun for target practice (at which he was ill adept). After a few quirks of fate, this rather pathetic anarchist sparked one of the greatest global calamities the world has ever known one hundred years ago this June. The series then steps back and sets the stage for that event. Such a full and epic approach is exactly what one would expect from this ten-part documentary The First World War: The Complete Series (2003), based on the book by Hew Strachan, released for the centenary of the war's beginning. If you went to high school in America, then you well know the look and feel...

Celebs urged to help gay marriage cause
Campaigners looking to ensure that gay marriage remains legal in California would like more help from Hollywood celebrities. Actor Brad Pitt and director Steven Spielberg have so far donated $$100,000 (£54,000) to the anti-Proposition 8 campaign, which opposes a state vote in November to ban the practice. However, activist Jonathan Lewis commented that Hollywood needs to get more involved in the issue. "We are concerned (more)...

Gay Campaigners Call For Celebrity Support
Steven Spielberg at an event for The 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007)
The organisers of a campaign to keep gay marriage legal in California have accused Hollywood stars of not doing enough for the cause.

Moviemaker Steven Spielberg and actor Brad Pitt have both donated $100,000 (GBP54,000) to the anti-Proposition 8 campaign, which helps activists oppose a high-level state vote to ban same-sex marriages.

But the campaign's organisers claim celebrities are not doing enough to support the cause.

Activist Jonathan Lewis says, "We are concerned that the entertainment industry hasn't stepped up to the plate to fight this unnecessary initiative ... Now it's time for the entertainment industry as a whole to take the lead."

The vote is due to take place in the upcoming November elections. Gay marriages were legalised in the state in May.
