Lewis spent thirty-five years in show business, starting as a singer with Kay Kyser and 'Herbie Kay'. A student of the Pasadena Playhouse, she was put under contract to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1940, where she often played Froggie's Mother, without screen credit, in the Our Gang series, as well as small roles (also without screen credit) in MGM features.

Played Jane Stacy in both radio and television series' My Friend Irma (1952); played Molly in the television series Fibber McGee and Molly (1959). Played in numerous episodes of radio's "Suspense" - often playing more than one part - and alongside husband Elliott Lewis. At times, described along with Elliott as one of radio's most distinguished couples.

She and husband Elliott Lewis shared the same last surname, hence she was known as Catherine (Cathy) Lewis long before their marriage in 1943.

Portrayed Jane Stacy on CBS Radio's "My Friend Irma" (1947-1954).

Co-starred in countless episodes of the old-time radio series Suspense from 1945 through 1959, often performing alongside Hollywood stars such as Cary Grant, Judy Garland, Frances Farmer, Kirk Douglas, Robert Taylor, Van Heflin, Richard Widmark, Dan Duryea, Eddie Bracken, Lloyd Nolan, Hume Cronyn, Jack Carson, William Conrad, Henry Daniell, Keenan Wynn, John Lund, Chester Morris, and even in several episodes with her then husband, Elliott Lewis, who was the producer of Suspense.

While married to Elliott Lewis the couple was known and Mr. and Mrs. Radio.
