It's been a long wait for Eyes of Wakanda. The show was first announced back in 2021, and it was supposed to come out in 2024. Obviously, that time has come and gone now. But the show is now finally almost here - and it'll even feature a character no one has seen in the MCU in a long time.

Eyes of Wakanda showrunner Todd Harris recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and ran down all the major points of the show. One big piece of news for MCU fans is that the show will feature an Iron Fist - probably not Danny Rand, as the show is set in the past, but an Iron Fist all the same. And it'll be canon, as Eyes of Wakanda is set in the Sacred Timeline of the MCU. So it serves as a true animated prequel to Black Panther - and even a prequel of sorts to Iron Fist,...

The next animated series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is ready to make an impact. The first images from Eyes of Wakandahave been released, giving audiences a different look at the nation that has been the home of several Black Panthers for generations. The series will follow the warriors known as the Hatut Haraze. The mission of these mysterious characters will be to retrieve Vibranium items across history, preventing catastrophes by keeping the hazardous material in the hands of Wakanda. Their duty will spawn over the course of decades. While the world rejoices in the potential Vibranium presents for everyone, the Hatut Haraze will keep the legacy of their home alive.

The images from Eyes of Wakanda introduce Noni (Winnie Harlow) and The Lion (Cress Williams). The exact role these characters will play in the narrative of the show will be revealed later this summer, when the highly-anticipated project makes its way to Disney+.

Netflix has officially set a date for its next live event: WWE’s Monday Night Raw will debut on the streamer Jan. 6, 2025 at 8/7c, live from Los Angeles’ new Intuit Dome.

The premiere episode will feature some of the biggest names in the WWE such as John Cena, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Cm Punk and Bianca Belair. The streamer also promises “many other superstars and surprise guests,” including rapper Travis Scott, whose new music will serve as the theme song for the series.

Well, too bad — we’re rumbling anyway. Nearly one year to the day after being announced — and following one false start in July due to stomach ulcers — Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced off in the ring Friday night for one of the most mega-hyped events in sports history.

This unlikely showdown between Paul, a 27-year-old former YouTube star, and Tyson, a 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight with his own, Gen X-beloved video game, is virtually impossible to ignore — and marks a giant leap forward in terms of Netflix’s live-streaming ambitions.

If promoters Most Valuable Promotions are to be believed, the fight will be the most-watched in history. Netflix has not announced any viewership expectations. Paul himself predicted that 25 million would tune in.

Before a single punch had been thrown, it had already been one of the most debated, reviled and mocked fights ever mounted.

Marvel Animation has shared new details and stills for two of its most highly anticipated TV shows, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda.

The former, according to the official plot synopsis, "is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."

We also have a confirmed cast list: Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. No character details are provided, though we've heard that Thames is Spider-Man, Domingo is Norman Osborn and, well, Cox is obviously returning as Daredevil.

As for Dancy, rumour has it the Hannibal star is playing Doctor Octopus. That's a fantastic casting decision and one we're sure many of you would like to see carry over into live-action.

In particular, the scenes where Maloney builds up to telling each of her three children that she is a woman play out in strange parallel to the succession of bouts we previously see her client Lennox Lewis undergo chasing the world title. Lennox and executive producer Eric Van Wagenen are developing a boxing-related competition that “aims to bring boxing back to its roots as fighters from across the country are highlighted in a tournament style.”

The unscripted project is the first to come out of a new strategic partnership announced by Paul Telegdy’s The Whole Spiel shingle and management house 3Point0 Labs, led by Marquel Martin. “Lennox Lewis is a titan of the boxing world,” Telegdy said. “We couldn’t be more excited to be in business with him and have him at the helm of our first project.”

Lewis was a contestant in 2008 on “The Apprentice,” where Van Wagenen was an EP. Van Wagenen’s TV boxing credits also include “The Contender.”

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk joined Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson as the only undisputed champions by winning a split decision over Tyson Fury. The fight took place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The previously undefeated Fury was convinced he won the fight. But the scorecards favored Usyk.

“I believe I won that fight,” Fury said to Dazn.“I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them. … We all put on a good fight, best we could do. Saudi Arabia is buzzing as it prepares to host one of the most hyped fights in decades this weekend. Tonight, heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will face off against champion Oleksandr Usyk, with all four heavyweight titles on the line.

Longtime boxing commentator Larry Merchant was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles last night and is in the critical care unit, according to a report.

The 92-year-old broadcaster, best known for his long stint with HBO, was taken to a Los Angeles hospital around 6 p.m./Pt Thursday, according to TMZ, which sites sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

Merchant was a staple of HBO’s boxing coverage from 1978 until his retirement in 2012. He provided commentary for such HBO programs as HBO World Championship Boxing, HBO Boxing After Dark and various HBO pay-per-view boxing telecasts. He offered expert analysis opposite his longtime partner at the mic, Jim Lampley, who provided the blow-by-blow.

After HBO discontinued its regular boxing coverage in 2018, ESPN boxing analyst Dan Rafael, who considered Merchant among the all-time great boxing broadcasters, quoted Merchant as saying about HBO’s boxing coverage, “Once upon a time we were a promising kid.

Verdi, an executive-producer on Martin Scorsese movies The Irishman and Silence, is making his directorial debut on documentary My Father Muhammad Ali: The Untold Story alongside co-director Tom DeNucci (Vault).

The doc, which is said to have full buy-in from its subject, will chart Ali Jr.’s struggle growing up as the son of “the greatest”. It’s very much the authorised version, with Lewis, his wife, various sidemen, and longtime friend/antagonist Mike Tyson getting in front of the camera to say what a great guy Lewis is, and Dr Dre providing a supercharged voiceover narration.

Perhaps it’s true that Lewis has been hampered by his lack of an especially colourful personality; being neither a shameless lawbreaker nor a press-conference shouter, he tends to come over as rather anodyne. You can’t say by the end of this you are hanging on Lewis’s every word, but the film-makers take care to shoehorn in a couple of respectable chatshow gags,...

Exclusive: Screen Media Ventures has acquired all North American rights to the boxing doc Lennox Lewis: The Untold Story and plans a Q4 launch.

The documentary, originally titled Tough Love: The Lennox Lewis Documentary, was set to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival before the fest was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The film chronicles the childhood, rise and domination of Lewis, the last boxer to hold the undisputed heavyweight title. Narrated by Dr. Dre, it features interviews with the fighter’s toughest opponents, including Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield.

We spoke to Lewis about the film earlier this year and debuted the film’s first trailer.

Directed by Rick Lazes and Seth Koch, the feature was written by Josh Dubin and Koch. Producers are The Irishman executive producer Chad A. Verdi, Rick Lazes, Nick Koskoff and Tom DeNucci. Emma Tillinger Koskoff (Joker) and Michelle Verdi (Wander) are executive producers.

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has long since retired from in-ring competition, but the 53-year-old has been training for his return to the sport as seen in some new videos posted on social media. In the training videos, Tyson shows his fighting spirit is still very much alive, displaying some tremendous agility and several hard-hitting punches. Michael Vaughan to executive produce doc with team behind ‘The Justin Fashanu Story’.

The life of UK boxer Frank Bruno is set to get the feature documentary treatment in Bruno, a project in the works from the team behind Hot Docs and Doc/Fest title Forbidden Games: The Justin Fashanu Story and former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan.

Adam Darke and Jon Carey, the directors of Forbidden Games, will direct Bruno and produce through their newly-launched banner Gospel, which they will run alongside Vaughan.

The trio are co-founders and equity partners in Gospel and Bruno will be their debut project.
