Generous John Legend Donates $5K To Wipe Out Seattle School Lunch Debt
Nearly 100 Seattle schools were saddled with a $21,000 debt relating to school meals for students, but that debt has now been settled thanks to the people who contributed to a GoFundMe campaign — one of whom is musician John Legend. As the Seattle Times reports, Jeff Lew organized the GoFundMe campaign to help wipe out the debt at 99 […]...

Where Can New York’s Oldest Alternative Art Space Afford to Move Next?
When Paul Ha decided to move White Columns to a garage-type space on Horatio and West 4th Street in 1998, many people though he was crazy. Hard as it might seem today, that corner of the village, adjacent to the still-vaguely-sordid Meatpacking District, was not desirable in the least. But it was affordable, which is in White Columns' DNA, since it was founded in 1970 by Jeffrey Lew and Gordon Matta-Clark in Soho (and known as the 112 Workshop, or 112 Greene Street). That changed rapidly. In 1998, the gallery scene was making its shift from Soho to Chelsea — Luhring Augustine and Andrea Rosen moved in that summer — and in June of that year, a spunky little cable-television show set largely in the Meatpacking District aired its pilot. Who would have thought that a world-class museum would be in spitting distance from the little factory of the new that...

Action-packed Opening Scene for Jeff Lew’s Killer Bean Forever
Animation director Jeff Lew has posted the entire opening scene for Killer Bean Forever, an independent animated film that took him five grueling years to produce just by himself. Best known for his sensational short film Killer Bean 2 in 2000, he has since gained an impressive resume working on X-Men, The Matrix Reloaded and the highly anticipated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The first scene comprised about 6 minutes of crazy action goodness and silly humor that no self-respecting animation fan can afford to miss. It got break-dancing. It got gun-fu. And it even got a Vince Carter slam dunk. What more can you ask for? This is more fun than a barrels of monkey.

When things go bad in Beantown, top assassin Killer Bean is called to clean-up the mess. Detective Cromwell finds himself in the middle between Killer Bean and mob boss Cappuccino. But to make matters worse, Killer Bean...

Killer Bean Returns in "Killer Bean Forever"
Flashback 8 years ago. I was surfing the internet on a crappy dial-up connection. YouTube had not been invented yet, so the now-defunct-and-redirected-to-Spike-tv's-official-site iFilm.com (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ifilm) was where its at to see online short films. With it taking so long just to load one video, when I came across a memorable one I downloaded it so I could watch it anytime without loading time. One of them that I could never forget was Killer Bean 2: The Party. The John Woo fan in me loved it, and wanted more. The short's animator, Jeff Lew, went on to work visual effects on films like X-Men and The Matrix Reloaded (as lead animator), but he promised to bring Killer Bean back as a feature length film. For the past 4 years, Lew has been working on Killer Bean Forever, and now he has a kickass trailer to show.

Second Trailer for Jeff Lew’s Killer Bean Forever
Any aspiring animator should take note from the example of independent filmmaker and lead animator of the Matrix Reloaded, Jeff Lew. For four years of total commitment, Jeff singlehandedly build a full length animated feature film Killer Bean Forever from the ground up while passing up a respectable animation positon for some big budget studio films. Its an action packed film following to his kick ass short film Killer Bean 2: The Party back in 2000 which was a internet sensation at the time. What you got is a coffee bean with a tough as nails attitude and stylish gun play action that John Woo would be proud of. Oh hell yeah! Here’s a brief synopsis:

When things go bad in Beantown, top assassin Killer Bean is called to clean-up the mess. Detective Cromwell finds himself in the middle between Killer Bean and mob boss Cappuccino. But to make matters worse,...
