Emmy viewers loved last year's team-up of Eugene Levy and Dan Levy so much, they now want to see another father-son duo host the ceremony.
Poppa's House stars Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. are our readers' top choice to host the 2025 Emmys on CBS. They received a leading 29 percent of fans' votes in Gold Derby's recent poll, a double-digit lead over The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and stand-up comedian John Mulaney, both of whom nabbed 16 percent support.
Wayans Sr. is a four-time Emmy nominee for writing and acting on the seminal sketch-comedy series In Living Color, while Wayans Jr. is still looking for his first Emmy bid. Poppa's House is a freshman hit for CBS and recently earned noms at the American Cinema Editors Guild, the Art Directors Guild, and the NAACP Image Awards.

The Television Academy has cemented Sept. 14 as the date for the 2025 Emmys (see the updated calendar), so now is the perfect time to start thinking about who'd make the perfect host. And we've got some ideas.
First and foremost, Emmy hosts have to be fun. Likable. Energetic. Great on their feet. And, apparently, father-son duos are in.
Following last year's successful team-up of Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, we'd love to see the tradition continue on with Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. They tick all of the above boxes and — bonus points — are currently headlining the sitcom Poppa's House on CBS, the same network that's broadcasting this year's Emmy Awards. That gives them an inside advantage, as the host almost always has a working relationship with the home network.

Only Murders in the Building has been one of my favourite shows of recent years, and it’s been getting better and better with each season. Production on the series’ fifth season recently began, with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez returning as Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam, and Mabel Mora, respectively. Deadline has reported the first major addition, with Keegan-Michael Key joining the cast of Only Murders in the Building season 5.

As you might expect, plot and character details are being kept under wraps at this time, but Key is said to be playing a recurring role in the new season. Michael Cyril Creighton will also be returning as Howard Morris, the cat-loving resident of the Arconia who has become more invested in the amateur sleuths with each season.

Exclusive: Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building has locked in the first major cast addition for the upcoming fifth season. Keegan-Michael Key has been tapped for a recurring role. As per usual, details about the storylines and new characters are being kept under wraps.
Production on the new season, which will be solving Lester’s murder, started earlier this week in New York with the show’s four series regulars — stars/executive producers Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as well as Michael Cyril Creighton — returning. Once again, they will be surrounded by a recurring cast of big names, starting with Key.
Season 4 features the show’s starriest cast yet, including the return of Meryl Streep, joined by Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon.

Much like Moira Rose, the newly-impoverished socialite and former soap opera star she played on “Schitt’s Creek,” actress and comedienne Catherine O’Hara is a woman of many talents. Though she is most well known for her comedic roles, she is also a skilled dramatic actress and a gifted writer. One of her most unique skills, which is showcased brilliantly in her Pop TV series, is her ability to capture a character’s bizarre manner of speaking in a way that is both hilarious but also believable. O’Hara’s long and varied career is captured in our gallery of her greatest film roles.
Like many of her contemporaries, O’Hara got her start on the Canadian sketch TV show “Sctv,” for which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For a Variety Series. She has appeared in several films from director Tim Burton, and she has become a part of...

Updated with Steve Martin’s reaction: Heading into this year’s SAG Awards, Martin Short had five previous nominations. On Sunday night, the veteran actor-comedian won his first SAG Award at the age of 74 in the Male Actor In a Comedy Series category for his role as Oliver Putnam on Only Murders In the Building. An hour or so later, he won a second Actor when the Hulu series took the Comedy Ensemble trophy in one of the ceremony’s biggest surprises.
Short, an Emmy and Tony winner, was not on hand to receive his first SAG Award at the Los Angeles ceremony. His rep said that Short “was not able to attend due to Covid” and shared a statement form him.

Beloved comedian actor Martin Short has finally won his first SAG Award. Short received the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series for playing Oliver Putnam, the sometime Broadway director and murder-solving podcast co-host on the Hulu comedy “Only Murders in the Building.”
Unfortunately, Short couldn’t attend the ceremony, so presenters Joey King and Jack Quaid accepted on his behalf. Short’s “Only Murders” costar Steve Martin posted on Feb. 21 that Short contracted Covid at the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special.
Short finally won the prize for “Only Murders” after also landing nominations in the male comedy actor category in 2022 and 2023. Short was also nominated this year along with the “Only Murders in the Building” cast for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series, alongside Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, Michael Cyril Creighton, Zach Galifianakis, Richard Kind, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon.

As “Cobra Kai” comes to an end after a six-season run and 65 episodes, it stands as one of the most successful examples of the “Netflix bump,” where the power of the leading streaming service’s platform gave a series a new lease on life and propelled it into the cultural zeitgeist.
Back when the series made its debut, “Cobra Kai” — a legacy sequel to the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid” that explored the life of the original film’s villain Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) — served as one of the crown jewels in YouTube’s push into original content via YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red). Despite toiling in relative obscurity behind the subscription tier of the new service, the show premiered to quite a bit of success and positive reviews in 2018, garnering 50 million views in its first five months and earning a Season 2 renewal just six days after its launch.

One needn’t know the difference between a touchdown and a turnover to enjoy the Super Bowl. For many viewers (and we suspect many a TVLine reader), it’s all about the commercials.
Each year, advertisers pony up big bucks to wave their wares in front of more than 100 million viewers (even though most ads are now released online, ahead of the Big Game). So, who drafted famous faces to shill? And who among them delivered the biggest laughs?

Eugene Levy‘s eyebrows go on a hair-raising journey after he tries Little Caesars’ Crazy Puffs Pizza in the brand’s 2025 Super Bowl commercial.
In the clip, the 78-year-old actor and comedian takes a bite of one of the bite-sized treats, and it’s quite literally a hair-raising experience.
His iconic eyebrows float off his face and fly away, terrifying everyone nearby.
Keep reading to find out more…
The only person who is unbothered by the experience is his daughter Sarah Levy, who makes a cameo.
Thankfully, Eugene regains his brows. However, he’s in danger of losing them again upon learning about the pizza place’s new Bacon Crazy Puffs.
If you forgot, Sarah starred alongside Eugene and her brother Daniel Levy in their hit series Schitt’s Creek. The show has been off-air for a while now. However, there has been a lot of talk about a reboot or revival over the years.

In a rematch of 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s Super Bowl Lix, but who will you spot during those commercial breaks?
Super Bowl Lix is already proving to offer serious star power, with ad spots led by Chris Pratt, Eugene Levy, Michelle Rodriguez and even a When Harry Met Sally reunion with Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.
The Eagles will face off against Kansas City for the second time in three years on Feb. 9, after the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia team in 2023. The Chiefs also won over the San Francisco 49ers last year, giving them a chance to go three in a row in 2025.
Notably absent from the lineup will be State Farm, and with it, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Agent State Farm. The insurance giant pulled its ad in early January following the wildfire devastation in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Warner Bros. has tried to monetize its catalog of older movies through different subscription streaming services, including FilmStruck — which it shut down less than a year after it launched in 2018.
Now, Warner Bros. Entertainment has quietly taken a new approach to bringing its content to YouTube to farm its film catalog for digital ad revenue.
Since the start of 2025, the company has released 31 movies on Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available for free. The movies include ads, unless you are a YouTube Premium subscriber. Warner Bros. has published a YouTube playlist with the free movies, available at this link.
The titles are varied and cut across genres, with some films on the list dating back decades. The movies include “Mutiny on the Bounty” starring Marlon Brando, “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” starring Eddie Murphy, “Oh, God!” featuring George Burns in the titular role, “The Mission” starring Robert De Niro,...

Here’s a fun fact: Thanks to his lineage, writer/director/actor Christopher Guest has an inherited royal title — the 5th Baron Haden-Guest — and for three years was an active member of the British House of Lords. In his spare time, however, Baron Haden-Guest makes delightfully silly movies that make audiences around the globe very happy.
Guest largely worked as an actor in the 1970s, with stage and TV appearances mixed with occasional side gigs with the satirists The National Lampoon. His breakthrough role came in 1984 as lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel in Rob Reiner‘s classic comedy “This Is Spinal Tap,” whose improvisational style proved to be an enormous influence when Guest began directing films five years later. That technique came to full fruition in his second directorial effort, 1996’s “Waiting For Guffman,” where he gathered together a group of great comic actors who formed a loose repertory company that...

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 5 is slated to start production “relatively soon” according to EP Dan Fogelman, who teased the new installment would welcome in “more big guest stars.”

Hoffman confirmed to TheWrap that the Hulu comedy is eyeing to start production on the new installment in March.

This year’s Academy Award nominations were just announced, shining a spotlight on some of the best movies of the year, plus some pretty bad movies, and also a bunch of stuff that nobody has ever heard of and may or may not actually be real for all we know.
One snub that some fans are clearly disappointed about is the lack of a nomination for Will & Harper in the Best Documentary category. The acclaimed doc followed Will Ferrell and his friend Harper Steele on a cross-country road trip, shortly after her decision to transition in 2021.
Will & Harper also, arguably, deserved a nomination for Best Original Song. In the movie, Ferrell and Steele task Kristen Wiig with penning an anthem for their road trip. The resulting “Harper and Will Go West” is surprisingly good; it’s catchy, and has clever lyrics, such as how it compares the duo to “Thelma and Louise,...

While Seinfeld remains one of the most beloved sitcoms on TV, there have been plenty of shows that have come out in the last decade or so that are equally worthy of praise. While everyone may have genres that they gravitate towards, and some people favor drama over action, or sci-fi over fantasy, most people tend to enjoy a good sitcom. Sitcoms are comforting, relaxing, and enjoyable in a way that few other shows achieve.
While the situations can range from the mundane, to the outlandish, there is always an element of comedy, and core characters who make each new situation into a hilarious opportunity. And while Seinfeld was by no means the first sitcom, it did feel like a seismic shift had taken place with these types of shows, and it opened the door for a lot more creativity in the genre going forward.

As wildfires continue to ravage areas of Los Angeles, thousands have tragically lost their homes, including several Hollywood stars.
The fire started Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. Though the Palisades and Eaton fires were at zero containment for days, as of Monday, the Palisades Fire was 14 percent contained, while The Eaton fire in Altadena was roughly one-third contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The Kenneth Fire, which scorched 1,052 acres near the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, was fully contained; so was the Hurst fire, which burned 779 acres in the area around Sylmar.
On Wednesday night, another fire, named the Sunset Fire, broke out in the Hollywood Hills, endangering the iconic landmark the Hollywood Bowl, among other tourist destinations. Even though Joshua Jackson’s home was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires, the actor says he feels “incredibly lucky.”
“First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are Ok,” he said in a statement shared via his rep. “My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”
Jackson’s Topanga Canyon home, which he bought in 2001, was one of those destroyed by the Palisades Fire, which broke out Tuesday morning. It has burned through some 23,000 acres.
At least 24 people have died in the fires, with 16 more missing. The biggest fires are the Palisades Fire, which is near Brentwood, and the Eaton Fire. As of Sunday morning, 11 percent of the Palisades fire and 27 percent of the Eaton fire had been contained.

Halle Berry has announced a helping hand to those affected by the California fires. Berry shared that she was packing up her entire closet and donating it to the displaced families.

When the flames of disaster are flickering at your doorstep, you either run for cover or step up to the plate. And if you’re Ben Affleck, you don’t sit on the sidelines when others are in peril. As wildfires tore through Los Angeles, threatening homes and lives, the actor found refuge in the one place that has always felt like home—his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s residence. But just days after seeking safety there, he found a higher calling.

Garner also didn’t hesitate to take matters into her own hands. With the fires raging across Southern California, she joined forces with World Central Kitchen (Wck), rolling up her sleeves to help feed the very heroes fighting to save the region. And as the fires came dangerously close to his $20.5 million Pacific Palisades mansion, Affleck didn’t just think about his own safety.

Top luxury realtor Dylan Eckardt, whose clients include Justin Bieber and Rihanna, says he has received 36 calls in the past 18 hours from people whose homes in Malibu and Pacific Palisades have been reduced to ash. Displaced residents of Altadena are also scrambling to find housing on the other side of the city.
“‘I need a four-bedroom.’ ‘Get me to Newport.’ A lot of people are asking me for Orange County,” Eckardt says. “It’s fucking utter chaos right now in the Palisades. People are riding dirt bikes around, trying to help friends and throw animals on their backs. It’s worse today than it was three days ago. And driving through Malibu is like Armageddon.”

Announced on January 8, 2025, by the Television Academy, these changes impact directing, guest acting, casting, and theme music. While the first two will take effect for the 2025 Emmys, the latter will apply in 2026. But the big question is, are these new rules fair to the artists?
Directors will get to showcase multiple works
The first major change affects directors, and it’s a game-changer. Previously, directors could only submit one episode per category, no matter how many shows they worked on. Now, they can submit multiple episodes, as long as each...

Mel Gibson says that his Malibu home was destroyed in the wildfires that have devastated the Los Angeles area this week.
Speaking to NewsNation, Gibson explained that he was in Austin, recording an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, when he learned that his house was under threat. “I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire. I thought, ‘Eh, I wonder if my place is still there.’ When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.”
“I have never seen a place so perfectly burned, you could put it in an urn,” Gibson continued. “[The area] was completely toasted. I’ve never seen such a complete burn.”
Despite the tragedy, Gibson tried to find some humor in the situation, joking that he’s now “been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”

California has had many wildfires, especially in the last few years. From the Camp Fire in 2018 that destroyed 95% of the structures in Butte County towns Paradise and Concow to the Tubbs Fire in 2017 that ate up portions of Napa, Sonoma, and Lake counties, climate change has made the frequency and ferocity of these events all too familiar, but the flames tearing across the mountains surrounding Los Angeles have shined a new light on the crisis for many. As Los Angeles remains America’s second largest city — and the main hub for the entertainment industry, as well as a home to millions — coverage of the devastation has been constant, with particular focus placed on the celebrities who’ve lost their homes.

Los Angeles County has been hit by a string of terrible wildfires that have forced the evacuation of thousands of people and destroyed over 1,100 structures. In this unprecedented crisis that has affected both wealthy areas and historic districts, at least five people have lost their lives.
Some of the worst damage has been seen in the Pacific Palisades area. Billy Crystal, an actor, and his wife Janice lost their 46-year-old home. In a sincere statement, they showed their sadness by saying, “Words cannot describe the enormity of the destruction we are seeing and feeling.” Our house was filled with love all over.
The fires started on Tuesday and have grown into six different ones across the county since then. On Wednesday night, a new fire broke out in Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills; evacuation orders were issued immediately. Unlike most wildfires in California, these fires generally happen in rural areas near cities.

The wildfires devastating Los Angeles will force Universal Studios Hollywood to shut down Wednesday.
The NBCUniversal-owned theme park intends to reopen Thursday, if weather conditions allow. The Universal lot, which borders the theme park, is open to essential employees only, with the studio assisting impacted employees.
“Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed today as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions,” according to a statement posted to its website. “We will continue to assess the situation and expect to open for business tomorrow. The safety of our team members and our guests is our top priority.”

Pacific Palisades resident Steve Guttenberg says the blaze that is burning through his community is “the most unbelievable I’ve ever seen.”
The actor, who appeared on CNN on Tuesday night, was one of 30,000 residents under evacuation orders after the fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. that morning. On CNN, he described the daytime scene, saying that due to the smoke, he said, “The sky was dark, like it was nighttime.” (See photos.)
Guttenberg spoke about helping people who were trying to evacuate the area, echoing comments he’d made earlier to Ktla. On the Pacific Coast Highway, he got out of his car to help people and saw a heartbreaking scene.
There were “mothers who were having panic attacks [and] little kids crying. … The cars were bumper-to-bumper traffic for over two miles and it was dangerous, the police were coming. … I spent all day moving these cars up on the hill,...

Ty Burrell has forever cemented his status as America's favorite dad. Through an iconic run as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, Burrell's quirky humor, heartfelt moments, and perfect comedic timing have made him a household sitcom name. However, beyond television, Burrell has also built an impressive filmography. For instance, he's surprisingly a member of the iconic Black Hawk Down cast, in which he delivers an unsuspectedly grounded performance. Amid the film's gripping intensity, Burrell proved himself to be a true, versatile actor.
Burrell's performance in Modern Family remains by far his most iconic, with Mr. Dunphy's hilarious, signature sense of childlike wonder redefining the otherwise cheesy sitcom dad. Additionally, as a member of the Mr. Peabody & Sherman voice cast, Burrell's versatility extends beyond live-action media. This unexpectedly dynamic career is filled with diverse roles, making it hard to pick 10 of the best, especially with so many projects we forgot Ty...

After putting on a Broadway show last season, “Only Murders in the Building” raised the creative bar in Season 4 with a love letter to Hollywood film—and with it came a star-studded ensemble.
The season finds Paramount Pictures filming a movie adaptation of the podcast featuring Steve Martin’s Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short’s Oliver Putnam and Selena Gomez’s Mabel Mora, with that trio portrayed on screen by Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria.
“The first conversation was, what is the movie version going to be like? Where is the humor going to come from? And obviously casting those people was hugely important to set the joke up,” casting director Tiffany Little Canfield said. “There were a couple of iterations. Like, is it funny to have people in their 40s for the guys and then make Mabel a teenager or a child so that the age difference is a
