“Gen V” Season finally has a premiere date, and just in time for the new school year, too.
Prime Video’s college-based spinoff of “The Boys” returns Sept. 17 with the premiere of the first three episodes, available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. New episodes will follow weekly with the second season finale airing Wednesday, October 22.
Season 2 picks up where Season 4 of “The Boys” left off — with Homelander (Antony Starr) firmly established as America’s brutal new fascist dictator and pretty much everyone who opposes him, with the sole exception of Starlight (Erin Moriarty), shoved into gulags at best.

Preacher nearly became a film before the successful AMC TV adaptation, with multiple directors and a screenwriter interested in the project. While Garth Ennis had no issue with a film adaptation, turning Preacher into a TV series allowed for a more thorough and successful adaptation. Preacher is just one example of how TV adaptations of comic series, like The Boys and The Walking Dead, have found more success than they would if they were film adaptations.
Preacher fans are well aware of the 2016 AMC live-action series based on the DC/Vertigo comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, though what they might not be aware of is how close the R-rated comic actually came to getting a film adaptation. Years before Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin turned the comic into a hit four-season show, Preacher was very nearly a feature film, and Garth Ennis opens up about that arduous process.

When a sitcom reaches a certain level of longevity, it can be easy for writers to take their audience for granted. Storylines get lightly reworked, if not recycled wholesale. Cheap ratings are scored by having a significant character get married (call it the "Rhoda boost"). And there's no better way to guarantee the maximum amount of eyeballs than to have a major celebrity play themselves within the world of our favorite characters.
This typically works. Who can forget the time Bobby Brady faked a serious illness to earn a bedside visit from Joe Namath on "The Brady Bunch," or the time that pint-sized prankster Arnold Jackson pulled the same trick to get Muhammad Ali up to the Drummond's penthouse on "Diff'rent Strokes?" These are memorable episodes to be sure, but there's nothing more to them than the cameo.

Prime Video released the official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Gen V. The series will debut with three episodes on Friday, September 29, followed by weekly episodes, leading up to the epic season finale on Friday, November 3.
The official teaser gives audiences a peek into life at Godolkin University, America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International). From the world of The Boys comes Gen V, which explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given.
These young, competitive heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s highly coveted top ranking. They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed. When the university’s dark secrets come to light,...

Prime Video’s unleashed the first teaser trailer for Gen V, the new spinoff from the critically acclaimed, adult superhero series The Boys. School is in session for a new generation of superpowered individuals in Prime Video’s Gen V trailer. After the monumental success of Prime Video‘s The Boys, a new crop of potential heroes and villains rule the halls of a university designed to shape the alpha and omegas of tomorrow. Like any college setting, the Godolkin University campus houses students with big dreams, each capable of taking over the world if they apply themselves. Competition to be the best in class is fierce, and only some survive the experience. The halls run red with the blood of lesser classmen, and the race to become a member of the Seven, the world’s premiere superhero team, is as deadly as they come.

Changing the setting to a college campus was always going to be hit or miss for The Boys franchise.
Prime Video dropped the teaser trailer for the Gen V on Monday morning, and my first impression is that the series has managed to nail the tone from its predecessor.
The Boys has been one of the biggest success stories to hit TV screens for the streaming service since its launch in 2019, so there are high expectations for the latest chapter in the franchise.
Set at America's only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (run by Vought International), Gen V explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school's top ranking.

Los Angeles, July 21 (Ians) The heavily popular and acclaimed web-series ‘The Boys’ will now be getting its spin-off in the show ‘Gen V’ which just released its teaser.
Putting the bloody and twisted heroism of Homelander aside, ‘Gen V’ will explore the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, whose power is artificial rather than God-given.
As they put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, the lead characters will learn that with ambition comes sacrifice, with power comes responsibility, with duty comes emotional conflicts, making them see that the there is a very thin line between right and wrong, and that nothing is black and white as they explore the many shades of grey.

They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed. When the university’s dark secrets come to light,...

San Diego Comic-Con is going to be a little different this year. Many studios had already dropped out of presenting, including Marvel, Sony, HBO, Universal, and Netflix, and now that SAG-AFTRA has joined the WGA on the picket lines, you can pretty much kiss any panel involving writers or actors goodbye. The official Comic-Con schedule has been updated with a list of cancelled panels, which unfortunately includes Dune: Part Two, The Boys spin-off series Gen V, Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, Lionsgate’s upcoming The Strangers trilogy, and more.

Prime Video has released a sizzle reel of its lineup for the coming months, including a first look at Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, as well as looks at Season 2 of Reacher, The Boys spinoff Gen V, and more.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith is Prime Video’s TV reboot of New Regency’s 2005 Doug Liman-directed action comedy film that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The movie followed a bored married couple who are surprised to learn that they are both assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other. Plot details of the series reboot remain under wraps. It will premiere in November.
In the teaser, we also see sneak peeks of Season 2 of Reacher. From writer and showrunner Nick Santora, based on the novels by Lee Child, the series follows Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life.

Exclusive: Prime Video is yet to release a premiere date for Gen V, its anticipated superhero college spinoff series, which will launch this year. While it’s early for a renewal decision, I hear the streamer is happy with the first season, and a writing room is starting soon in anticipation of a Season 2 pickup. It will be led by executive producer Michele Fazekas, who I hear will serve as sole showrunner.
Fazekas was co-showrunner on Season 1 alongside her longtime writing partner Tara Butters who I hear is taking a break from the business for some family time. The separation was amicable, and Butters intends to return to writing-producing at some point in the future, I hear.
Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (run by Vought International), Gen V explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test,...

Back in February, AMC made the surprising announcement that they have brought on This Is the End directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to develop an adaptation of the hit comic book Preacher. We haven't heard much about the potential series since then, except for a March update where Evan Goldberg revealed that they are trying to stay as close to Garth Ennis' comic book as possible.
Last night, Seth Rogen revealed on his Twitter account that the writing process has begun, which was later confirmed by Evan Goldberg. Take a look at their tweets below, which tease a Biblical opening for the series.

There had been rumours, but now it’s official: This Is The End’s Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are adapting Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s critically acclaimed DC/Vertigo comic book series, Preacher. First rumored back in November, AMC and Sony Pictures Television have now officially announced an agreement to develop Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's 1990s comic series "Preacher" as a dramatic series for AMC.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg ("This Is the End") will write and executive produce the series while Sam Catlin ("Breaking Bad") will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
The story follows a down-and-out Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity conceived by the unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon.
Given immense powers, the preacher teams with an old girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire and sets out on a journey across America to find God -- who apparently had abandoned his duties in heaven -- and hold him accountable for his negligence.
AMC's executive vice president Joel Stillerman says in a statement: "This is a great piece of material for AMC, and...

As I’ve been saying lately, we don’t always report about series in development because so often they go nowhere, but when an official development announcement comes from a network, that’s another thing entirely. And wow, this could be seriously great news, as AMC, home of The Walking Dead, today announced that it is developing, along with Sony Pictures Television (Helix), a series based on the Preacher comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is the End) are executive producers, though there is no word that Rogen will be playing an onscreen part, and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will be showrunner.

It’s all coming together. Quarry is based on the series of novels by Max Allan Collins, who also brought us the amazing Road To Perdition graphic novel. As previously reported, Stellan Skarsgård will play the key role of The Broker. Noah Taylor has...

Cinemax is busy beefing up its sniper pilot, Quarry. We’ve been bringing you all the latest casting news involved in this interesting 1970s set thriller. Today we can add a Thor actor to the mix. Stellan Skarsgård has signed the dotted line to co-star in the pilot.
Quarry could be a success. The network has already seen positive results with their original series Banshee and Strike Back. Quarry is based on the Max Allan Collins series of novels and follows a Marine sniper, who we previously revealed would be acted by Prometheus actor, Logan Marshall-Green. When our Marine returns home from Vietnam in 1973, he finds an America that would demonize him for doing nothing more than sacrificing just about everything to protect their freedoms.
As a result, Marshall-Green’s character, whose name is Quarry, becomes a contract killer. He is good a killing after all.

Cinemax just recruited a Marine sniper. Okay, so Prometheus actor Logan Marshall-Green isn’t really a soldier, but he’ll play one on TV. The network chose him to star in their new drama pilot titled Quarry.
The pilot is based upon a Max Allan Collins’ book, which follows a Marine sniper who returns home from Vietnam in 1973 to become disillusioned by the America he finds. It isn’t the one he left behind and it isn’t kind to him. “Combat-hardened and disillusioned, he’s recruited into a network of contract killers and corruption spanning the length of the Mississippi River,” reported THR. I told you it was a drama, and what a drama, but I see exciting thriller elements here as well.
If you are thinking that the title is weird, don’t. A quarry holds rocks and any member of the military can tell you there are...
