Alison Leggatt(1904-1990)

British stage and screen character actress who made her reputation in plays by John Osborne and Harold Pinter. Born into a wealthy family, she started acting against the wishes of her parents. In films, she was often cast as upper-crust ladies, kindly wives, disapproving mothers-in-law, landladies or housekeepers.
