Austin Butler doesn’t think an American should play James Bond
With Denis Villeneuve officially on board to direct the next James Bond movie, we do have to wonder if he’d bring any of his previous collaborators on board to take over the role from Daniel Craig. Well, we know a female 007 is out, so we can dismiss Zendaya…But what about Austin Butler? Turns out, that’s a big no – Dr. No – from Butler, who has reasons for never wanting to play Bond.

Austin Butler recently chatted with Sam Thompson on Hits Radio Breakfast Show, where his relationship with Villeneuve – who Butler played Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen for in Dune: Part Two – was brought up. And with Villeneuve helming Bond #26, Thompson...

'Deadpool & Wolverine' Star's Forgotten Marvel Spin-Off Becomes a Sleeper Hit Overnight
Image
Before Jennifer Garner joined the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine, she starred in her own comic book movie that dove deeper into her character. Elektra was released in 2005 and directed by The X-Files'Rob Bowman. While it was met with poor reviews by fans and critics, it has recently found new life and success on streaming.

Elektra sat #3 on Netflix's Top 10 Movies on August 12, 2025, worldwide, sandwiched between My Oxford Year and Stolen: Heist of the Century. During the film's theatrical run, it generated over $56 million at the box office. It also received a low critics' score of 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics citing unimpressive fight scenes and a dull story. But despite its low rating, it was nominated for Best Kiss at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. Garner also received a nomination for Choice Movie Actress: Action Adventure/Thriller at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards.

Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Has Wrapped Filming
Image
Christopher Nolan's swords and sandals epic The Odysseyhas just taken a huge stride towards its highly anticipated release date next year. The star-studded spectacular is slated to open in theaters on July 17, 2026, and tickets for the movie went on sale 12 months ahead of its grand debut, making it even more critical for the acclaimed filmmaker to maintain a tight schedule to ensure that the film arrives on time. Fortunately, the latest filming update from the team indicates that everything is on target and heading in the right direction.

Cameras started rolling on The Odyssey in late February, with photos from the set teasing the ambitious scale of the project — which is reportedly the most expensive movie that Nolan has made to date. Now, less than six months later, the film has wrapped production. A crew member reportedly told World of Reel that today marked the final day of filming,...

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Filming Controversy Explained
Image
Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey" is currently shooting on location all around the world. Matt Damon is playing Odysseus, with Tom Holland portraying Odysseus' son, Telemachus. In addition, Charlize Theron is reported to be playing Circe, while the film boasts a giant cast of huge celebrities, including Zendaya, Anne Hatheway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, and many others besides. Filming has taken place in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco, and various locations around Greece. Some scenes were filmed on Sicily, and others were filmed in the woods of Scotland or at a studio in Los Angeles. It appears that Nolan wanted to re-visit the real locations of the Mediterranean where "The Odyssey" takes place. Well, Scotland and L.A. notwithstanding.

According to a new report from Deadline, however, Nolan has filmed "The Odyssey" in a location that is politically problematic.

Christopher Nolan Criticized for Filming 'They Odyssey' in Western Saharah
Image
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already a complex story to film without the Oscar-winning director being urged to shut down filming and move to a new location by the Western Sahara International Film Festival. The criticism of Nolan shooting his next potential awards darling have come as he filmed scenes for the upcoming epic in the Morrocco-occupied area near the city of Dakhla, a “non-self-governing territory” as designated by the Un in 1963.

Nolan is certainly not the first filmmaker to set up cameras at the location to use its sandy backdrops and burning vistas to be witnessed on cinema screens and TV. One of the most recent projects to be filmed there was Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time, although with the cancellation of the series those cameras will not be returning to the area. The piece of land in question is not part of Morrocco in a legal sense,...

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ Accused Of Fueling “Brutal Repression” By Filming In Occupied Western Sahara
Image
Christopher Nolan has been criticized for shooting elements of Universal’s all-star epic The Odyssey in Morocco-occupied Western Sahara.

Earlier this month, the British director filmed for four days near the coastal city of Dakhla, which is part of a region that the United Nations has designated as a “non‑self‑governing territory” since 1963.

Western Sahara, which has become a magnet for big-budget shoots like the Prime Video series The Wheel of Time, is not legally part of Morocco, but the U.S. and UK are among Western governments to recently endorse the North African nation’s claim over the land.

The Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara), which takes place in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, called on Nolan to urgently halt shooting in the region. Universal has been contacted for comment.

“Dakhla is not just a beautiful location with cinematic sand dunes. Primarily, it is an occupied,...

Image
Christopher Nolan's first film since the award-winning Oppenheimer will be a take on Homer's famous work, The Odyssey. The film will, of course, feature a star-studded cast.

The Odyssey brings back several frequent collaborators of the Oscar-winning filmmaker, as well as welcoming some new ones to the mix. One of the new ones is McU's Tom Holland, who is rumored to portray Telemachus, the son of the film's main protagonist, Matt Damon's Odysseus. In a new interview with GQ Magazine, Tom Holland had nothing but praise for The Odyssey, as well as the extraordinary experience he's had on the set working with Nolan.

Filming for The Odyssey began in mid-February this year, and it's still ongoing. However, it looks like Holland ended its scenes. The actor highlighted that the project was "the job of a lifetime," and revealed that he had "the best experience" on a film set.

Star of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, 35, Officially Exits Production and Is Being Replaced With This HBO Star
Image
One crew member from The Odyssey will not be partaking in the voyage, after all. Cosmo Jarvis, the star of last year's hit FX miniseries Shōgun, has departed the upcoming epic. The Odyssey, which is director Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster biopic Oppenheimer, will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.

Deadline reports that Jarvis' departure is due to a scheduling conflict; the British actor is slated to play the title role in Young Stalin, an account of the early days of the future Soviet ruler, and is also starring in Guy Ritchie's Wife & Dog, and the second season of Shōgun. Marshall-Green is a newcomer to Nolan productions, but has starred in a number of notable films, including Prometheus, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Upgrade. Before Her Oscar Win, Emma Stone Had A Small Role In A Beloved Video Game
Image
The Square Enix action-adventure video game, "Sleeping Dogs," is not your run-of-the-mill genre offering. The combat is not always weapon-dependent, as the game utilizes a combo-based melee system that allows you to kick, grapple, and evade hordes of enemies. This style of fighting makes sense, as you play as martial artist and undercover cop Wei Shen, whose moves are practiced and controlled to avoid drawing too much attention. When Wei does use a gun, it is in tandem with his martial arts moves, creating a fun, dynamic gun-fu style where the aim is to disarm. As you must have gathered by now, "Sleeping Dogs" promises a wickedly fun time (evoking aspects of the "Grand Theft Auto" series), where quick, on-your-feet thinking molds what kind of fighter Wei Shen will become.

However, what truly sets the game apart is its story. Things kick off after Wei is arrested in Hong Kong,...

Tom Holland and Zendaya look ethereal and armored in the latest BTS pics from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Production for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is in full swing, and the camera-happy vultures are circling for any chance of snapping a photo of the cast and crew in action. We’ve seen Matt Damon dressed in armor with an intimidating helmet, and today, we’ve got the latest looks at Tom Holland and Zendaya navigating the set of The Odyssey.

In the images posted online featuring Zendaya, the Challengers and Euphoria actress is wearing a simple yet elegant cream-colored dress. As she navigates the set’s tricky terrain, we see her smiling and laughing alongside Nolan and his talented team of production staff. While audiences could expect her outfit to be elaborate, I’m partial to the dress’s simplistic presentation. She wears it well.

20 Years Ago, A Misguided Marvel Spin-Off Tanked At The Box Office
Image
(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)

Marvel wasn't always the powerhouse that it is now. Even years after "Blade" and "X-Men" hit it big, it took a while for the industry to catch up and start regularly turning Marvel Comics characters into successful theatrical franchises. When "Iron Man" hit theaters in 2008 and kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, everything changed. But in the early 2000s, there was kind of a wild west vibe going on. In that time, some real clunkers made their way out into the world. "Elektra" is at or very near the top (or perhaps bottom) of that list.

Released in early 2005 by 20th Century Fox, the film served as a spin-off of 2003's "Daredevil" starring Ben Affleck, which was at...

Halle Berry Says James Bond Co-Star Pierce Brosnan Restored Her Faith in Men
Image
Pierce Brosnan can add being a gentleman and a scholar to his list of glowing accomplishments, at least according to Halle Berry. The actress co-starred with Brosnan in his fourth and final outing as James Bond in 2002's Die Another Day, and the actress is heaping praise on the former 007, saying that he "restored" her faith in men.

During a video interview for Wired, Berry gushed about her James Bond co-star in the most positive way. Berry played Bond girl Jinx in 2002's Die Another Day and while she says that "Bond wasn't on my wish list," Berry thoroughly enjoyed her experience on the film, thanks in large part to Brosnan himself.

"He will always be my Bond. I'm a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn't be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan. Bond wasn't on my wish list,...

Why Did Jared Leave The Good Doctor?
Image
Fans of The Good Doctor were shocked by Dr. Neil Melendez's death, but also felt the loss when Dr. Jared Kalu, portrayed by Chuku Modu, departed early on. The most shocking departure was the death of Dr. Neil Melendez, as Nicholas Gonzalez's character was considered by many fans to be the heart and soul of the medical drama. But other characters have left the show, and one of them departed fairly early on -- only to return in Season 6.

Chuku Modu exited The Good Doctor after portraying surgical resident Dr.

Freddie Highmore on Saying Goodbye to ‘The Good Doctor’: ‘The Show Has Always Lived in These Tiny Little Nuances’
Image
After seven seasons, “The Good Doctor” came to a heart-rending conclusion, emotionally devastating the dedicated fans who signed on to say so long to Dr. Shaun Murphy and the rest of the cast and crew who populated San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Variety talked with series star Freddie Highmore (Dr. Shaun Murphy) about saying farewell to the creators and actors he’s shared laborious science monologues and anxiety-inducing surgical scenes with for seven years.

What was the very last scene that you shot as Dr. Shaun Murphy?

The last scene that I filmed was the one where, ultimately, Leah sits down next to Shaun and then talks him into going to becoming aware, I guess, of the situation facing both Claire and Dr. Glassman. That motivates him in the short term to go and speak to Claire [Antonia Thomas] and then come to terms with the fact that Glassman will...

Freddie Highmore Hints Emotional ‘Good Doctor’ Ending Will ‘Come Full Circle’
Image
When co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman learned The Good Doctor would end with its current and seventh season, they “laid down on the floor and contemplated that for its truth, then pretty quickly had an idea of where we wanted to go with that final season,” Friedman reveals, before adding, “but this is definitely bittersweet… I could have continued to tell stories for Shaun [Murphy], and Freddie [Highmore] forever.” In the penultimate episode, there was plenty of sweetness for the show’s doctors: There was a wonderful impromptu 2 a.m. wedding for Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) and Park (Will Yun Lee); the return of original character Claire (Antonia Thomas) and her romantic reunion with Kalu (Chuku Modu); and Shaun, with the help of his wife Lea (Paige Spara) explaining to young addict Hannah how Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) can help her the way he helped Shaun, his “nonbiological son.” Finally, there was Glassman quietly telling Shaun,...

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about The Good Doctor Episode 709, “Unconditional.”

It’s the beginning of the end as ABC’s The Good Doctor tonight kicked off its two-part series finale. The first hour had hallmarks of a happy series closer — a wedding and a fan-favorite couple rekindling their romance after years apart — before the episode took a double dark turn at the end.

Things got off to a great start when Claire Browne (returning original cast member Antonia Thomas) reunited with Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) as she came by to get a lump in her breast checked out. It had been ruled benign in Guatemala where she heads surgery but it turned out to be cancerous. A surgery to remove it led by Claire’s ex Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) and Shaun was initially unsuccessful but a followup did the trick, and Claire was on her way to...
