Having already commanded the screen in this year’s hit Netflix movie Rebel Ridge, Aaron Pierre will look to do the same as John Stewart in Lanterns, the new Dcu series that James Gunn says is slated to release at some point in 2026. Before we get there, though, Pierre recently shared how he was introduced to Stewart in the first place, and it’s all thanks to a beloved animated series that’s still held up as the gold standard of superhero shows.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming role in Lanterns, of which he said he "can't wait to get to work" on, the 30-year-old English actor revealed that he was just a kid when he first met Green Lantern, thanks to a short-lived Cartoon Network series that only lasted 39 episodes. Perhaps it’s one you’ve heard of?

It has been a while since Jeremy Saulnier gifted audiences with a film. After the one-two punch of 2013’s tense Blue Ruin and 2015’s masterful Green Room, Saulnier was solidified as a director worth watching. Since then, he has made 2018’s Hold the Dark, and worked on season 3 of True Detective. With Rebel Ridge, the writer/director has delivered another work that shows why he remains one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.
The story opens with the sight of Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), a former Marine, cycling into the town of Shelby Springs. With Metallica blaring in his earbuds, this prominent character is shown to be singularly focused as he rides into town with $36,000 in cash, money intended to post bail for his cousin...

While you might not think it, given the movie's slow-burning plot, and hand-to-hand fight scenes, Rebel Ridge features well over 500 VFX shots which were hidden in plain sight. The new movie, directed and written by Jeremy Saulnier and starring Aaron Pierre, has been a smash hit for Netflix, boasting a strong 96% Rotten Tomatoes score and rushing to the top of the streamer's Top 10 chart. As the tension draws to a head, Terry Richmond (Pierre) unleashes brutal vengeance on the corrupt police officers who inadvertently caused his brother's death. The scene is filled with brutal fight choreography and, far more surprisingly, a lot of visual effects.
Speaking to Art of VFX, Rebel Ridge's VFX artist, Chris Connolly, discussed the process of implementing the movie's secret VFX. Of course, no sharknadoes or Scorpion Kings appear in the finale, but CGI was used to enhance the on-screen violence. The smoke grenades Terry launches at the police,...

Jeremy Saulnier, the director responsible for Netflix's hit action thriller Rebel Ridge, has said that he's already working on his next film. Unfortunately, for those digging his latest feature, he isn't working on a sequel to Rebel Ridge, or something remotely touching on the same genre. Apparently, he has decided to go back to his less "sober" roots.
The director appeared on The Playlist podcast, where he expanded on the screenplay he's currently writing. Saulnier has decided to return to the tone of previous projects like Green Room and his first feature, Murder Party, and take a more fun approach to his unique storytelling style. Per Saulnier's statement:
"Im currently writing something thats a little more in the Green Room universe. Because with Rebel Ridge, I was exploring a new side. I was just tired of everything I do being oppressive. But Ive kinda gone back. It has to...

Rebel Ridge not only walks through thrilling action sequences and a compelling crime drama but also features memorable performances from a talented set of actors. Serving as Jeremy Saulnier's fifth feature film, Rebel Ridge is significantly different from the director's previous works. Unlike Blue Ruin, Green Room, Hold the Dark, and Murder Party, Rebel Ridge does not feature graphic violence and relies more on gradually building tension to keep a viewer hooked.
However, despite this, Saulnier's directorial forte is still on full display as he cleverly explores subjects like racism and flawed laws surrounding civil asset forfeiture and misdemeanor sentences. The film's gripping narrative is held together by its cast, which includes both familiar and new faces. Since the cast plays a crucial role in selling Rebel Ridge's crime drama to audiences, viewers may be curious where they know the movie's actors from.

Jeremy Saulnier’s Rebel Ridge is a race thriller that, up to a point, is as effective as they come. A Black man, Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), is racing down a Louisiana backroad on his bike, Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast” blasting on his headphones. From there, he’s promptly rear-ended and thrown off his bike by a cop car in pursuit, held up at gunpoint, and thrown against the car by two officers. For some 15 minutes, we’re simply bearing witness to the kind of traffic stop that’s gotten so many Black people killed, and Saulnier twists the knife by expertly modulating the tension between the cops clearly looking for any reason to bust out the weaponry and Terry refusing to capitulate to his clear harassment.
Violence doesn’t ignite here, thanks to Terry unbelievably maintaining a cool head, but the traffic stop still ends...

Coming our way from director Jeremy Saulnier, whose previous credits include Murder Party, Blue Ruin, Green Room, Hold the Dark, and episodes of True Detective season 3, the thriller Rebel Ridge was announced back in 2019… but we haven’t seen it yet, because the project was slowed down by the pandemic lockdowns, then by the departure of lead actor John Boyega a few weeks into filming, reportedly due to “family reasons.” With Aaron Pierre (M. Night Shyamalan’s Old) taking over the lead role, Rebel Ridge did make it through production on the third attempt. It wrapped in the summer of 2022, had a positive test screening, and is finally ready to make its way out into the world. Netflix has announced a September 6th premiere date for the film, and along with that announcement comes the unveiling of several first look images, which can be seen in this article.

Terry finds an unlikely ally in court clerk Summer McBride (AnnaSophia Robb) and the two become ensnared in a deep-rooted conspiracy within the remote township. This article contains spoilers for the Curb Your Enthusiasm series finale.
As many fans predicted, the Curb Your Enthusiasm series finale concluded just like the much-maligned Seinfeld finale, with Larry David sent to jail for (petty) crimes against humanity. Granted, it wasn’t exactly like David-penned Seinfeld finale as, on Curb, Jerry Seinfeld’s chance encounter with a Joe Pesci lookalike leads to a jury nullification and mistrial, setting our cranky hero free once again.
Before that last minute Deus Ex Jerry, however, Curb Your Enthusiasm gets to indulge in the best part of the Seinfeld ending of yore by having many, many guest stars and other faces from the show’s past make appearances. From the prosecutor to the judge to all the witnesses that attest to Larry’s poor character, the Curb finale has many guest star roles to fill. Here’s how it fills them.

Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from the series finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO.
After 12 seasons, Larry David officially signed off as Larry David on his HBO comedy. And as predicted, he used his time on Seinfeld to help tie up loose ends on Curb.
The action began with Larry heading back to Atlanta to face charges for handing out water at a polling place at the start of the season. Traveling with him is Jeff (Jeff Garlin), Susie (Susie Essman) and his longtime roomie Leon (D.B. Smoove), who declared he was going to catch up on old episodes of Seinfeld during the flight.
“You never told me it was a show about weekly ass,” he rants to Larry.
While driving into the city, Larry encounters an irate, bird-flipping driver named Cynthia (Allison Janney), who ends up being the latest squeeze of Richard. Naturally, Cynthia denies later that she was the one who tussled with Larry on the freeway.
In court, the prosecutor (Greg Kinnear) tries to bolster his case that Larry both violated the Election Integrity Act and is a general menace to society by questioning several antagonists from the comedian’s past: Mocha Joe (Saverio Guerra), the country club’s Tackahashi (Dana Lee) and the real Lt. Alexander Vindman, who “won’t tolerate corruption from Trump, Putin or Larry David.” Bruce Springsteen returned, too, as did Tracey Ullman.
The Curb flashbacks and stars just kept coming. Ted Danson showed up in Atlanta for the trial, as did Jerry Seinfeld (as himself), Dean Morris (as the judge) and Sharlto Copley (as Michael Fouchay).
Despite flashing a heart sign to the jury, Larry didn’t make a good witness for himself. The jury, naturally, convicts Larry.
“You have a history of doing the same thing wrong, over and over,” says the judge, who sentences Larry to a year in prison.
The comedian ends up in a cell that’s not unlike the one that Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine were in during the polarizing, 1998 series finale of Seinfeld. But that’s not where this comedy ends: the real Jerry shows up to tell Larry that he’s a free man because one of the jurors broke sequester. The charges were thrown out!
“It’s over,” says Jerry, who gestures to the jail cell. “You don’t want to end up like this. Nobody wants to see it. Trust me.”
As the two walk out of the jail, Larry exclaims, “This is how we should have ended the [Seinfeld] finale!”
Replies Jerry, “How did we not think of that?”...

Spoiler Alert: This article discusses plot points from the series finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
After nearly 25 years of Larry David’s disagreements, feuds and outbursts, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” aired its final episode on Sunday.
The appropriately-named “No Lessons Learned” — the 10th episode of Season 12 — wrapped up a season-long arc that started when Larry was arrested in Atlanta for giving water to Auntie Rae (Ellia English) while she was in line to vote, violating local law. Through the season, he became something of a pop culture hero for doing the right thing, even though had no idea he was breaking any law, let alone making any sort of statement.
Of course, Larry’s entourage heads to Atlanta for the trial, including Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) and Ted Danson (playing himself), Jeff (Jeff Garlin) and Susie (Susie Essman), and Leon (J. B. Smoove) and Richard Lewis (playing himself). Richard headed to Atlanta...

On the latest Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, Larry David (the character) is accused of being the anonymous writer of a letter griping about his Los Angeles country club. The letter, which is posted to the locker room bulletin board, is signed “Disgruntled” and grabs the attention of the club’s owner, Mr. Takahashi (Dana Lee), who happens to have a long-standing feud with Larry.
It makes sense that Larry would be assumed to be the so-called Disgruntled member. In this episode — the fourth in the final season, titled “Disgruntled” — Larry, who is enjoying newfound fame as a political national hero after his premiere episode visit to Georgia, gets under the skin of several members of the club’s staff when he complains about breakfast not being served after 11 a.m., brings his own bread and his own eggs to the kitchen, and then accuses the chef of not using his home-brought eggs.

This article contains spoilers for Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 episode 4 “Disgruntled.”
In its 12th and final season, Curb Your Enthusiasm has finally revealed its true colors. In addition to being a highly-choreographed comedic machine with improvised dialogue, the Larry David series is also something far more recognizable: a high school comedy.
Much like Saved by the Bell, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or even Animal House, Curb Your Enthusiasm features a regressive institution and a hero who battles against it to establish their individuality. It’s just that, on Curb Your Enthusiasm, the regressive institution isn’t a high school or college but the Ocean View Country Club and that hero isn’t a high school senior but a senior citizen.

SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher will be doing a tour of Hollywood picket lines tomorrow morning, after her rousing speech saying they were victimized by the AMPTP, which she called a “very greedy entity” and that the studios were on the wrong side of history.
But despite not officially joining the picket lines for their own strike until tomorrow, there were plenty of actors out in force, as they have been for all 73 days of the writers strike.
The Afterparty star Ike Barinholtz, who has been outside Paramount for much of the strike, was walking the like with Michael McDonald, who was on Madtv and has recently appeared in What We Do In The Shadows and How I Met Your Father.
“We’re triply angry, we’ve triple had it up to here. We’re excited SAG is going to start coming out and show some solidarity,” Barinholtz told Deadline.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a movie directed by , Cathy Yan. An action film with super héroes that is entertaining enough to be watched
Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey. She also has several friends to “shell out” justice and lots of kicks.
Storyline
The relationship between Harley Quinn and The Joker has ended, so the girl needs to find something to while away the tedium. Things look easy for this when half of Gotham is after you and you have unlimited chances for doing somersaults.
The Movie Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
Somersaults, blows, shots, and every once in a while a joke. Not bad at all: this is like Girl Power in which the girls do the kicking and the foot always lands in the same place in the anatomy of the guy.

Healing seldom happens overnight. Wounds may run deep for years before they are patched up for the world to see and can continue to fester beneath the surface even once the facade has been restored. No one should ever have to grow up in an environment where family becomes the cause of such wounds and yet so many do: these cuts are the deepest, and there can never be enough sutures to piece back what once was; these are holes that follow so many into adult life, impacting the choices made and the paths followed. In Tom Huang’s stumbling dramedy “Dealing With Dad”, these wounds impact a flawed family’s reunion to handle their dad – the root cause of their collective trauma – and help him overcome a bout of depression; the longer the film drags on the more obvious it is they are as burdened by his affliction as...

The awards season ended with a bang as Hollywood celebrated Lulu Wang’s The Farewell winning Best Feature and Zhao Shuzhen nabbing Best Supporting Actress at the Independent Spirit Awards while Bong Joon-ho’s peachy dark comedy masterpiece about social class made history at the Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English speaking film to win Best Picture. The South Korean film also made strides, winning Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. The huge wins for The Farewell and Parasite were benchmarks for Asians and Asian Americans, but just a week prior, Birds of Prey was released in theaters. On the surface, the Warner Bros. pic may seem like an action-packed, candy-coated mind trip of comic book movie, but the movie is a nuanced touchstone of Asian American representation — and even though it focuses on Harley Quinn’s narrative, the story would be nothing without Cassandra Cain,...
