Cash App Founder’s Alleged Killer Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

On Thursday, Nima Momeni pleaded not guilty to charges alleging that he fatally stabbed Cash App founder Bob Lee in San Francisco and left him to bleed to death, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Momeni, who also worked in tech, was arrested April 13 for Lee’s murder, nearly two weeks after Lee had been found on the street in the upscale neighborhood of Rincon Hill. When responders arrived, he was unresponsive and “uncontrollably bleeding” from stab wounds to his chest and hip, according to an affidavit filed by prosecutors.

Autopsy Of Murdered Cash App Founder Bob Lee Released, Drugs Found In His System

The autopsy of Cash App founder and murder victim Bob Lee, 43, has been released. Documents made public on Thursday showed that Lee was stabbed three times, twice in the chest and once in the hip. One strike at his left chest penetrated his heart, with a wound of approximately five inches. Lee died last month in Rincon Hill, San Francisco.

The medical examiner of the case also found alcohol, cocaine, ketamine and allergy medication in Lee’s system.

Shortly after Lee’s murder, social media wags had speculated that the murderer was a homeless resident of the city, as San Francisco has seen a spike in crime recently.

Now, police have charged fellow tech executive Nima Momeni for Lee’s death.

The two men were spotted leaving Lee’s hotel and getting into a Momeni’s car at about 2 a.m., the day of the murder.

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in the killing of Cash App creator Bob Lee. Police identified the suspect as Nima Momeni, a 38-year-old tech executive, during a press conference on Thursday.

While the motive for the crime is still unclear, police confirmed Lee and Momeni knew each other. According to a report by Mission Local, the two men purportedly were in Momeni’s car when they got into an argument, prompting Lee to exit the vehicle. Momeni then allegedly stabbed Lee multiple times before abandoning his knife.

Bob Lee, the creator of Cash App and a current executive at the cryptocurrency company MobileCoin, was killed in a stabbing in San Francisco early Tuesday morning, April 4.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office hasn’t officially confirmed Lee’s identity yet, though friends and family have said he was the victim (per CBS News). Lee’s father, Rick Lee, wrote on Facebook, “I just lost my best friend, my son Bob Lee when he lost his life on the street in San Francisco early Tuesday Morning.”
