Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Mimi Lazo is one of Latin America's top actors, with an extensive list of credits on stage and screen. Ms. Lazo's film career expands over two decades of award winning performances in over twenty films, starting with her iconic cameo in Venezuelan renowned film "El pez que fuma" (The smoking fish) by director Roman Chalbaud, and followed by a series of critically acclaimed leads in movies such as "Mascaro, el cazador Americano" (The American Hunter), Best Film at the Cartagena International Film Festival, "Los platos del Diablo" (Devil's Plates), Best Actress Venezuelan National Film Association, "Golpe de Estadio" (Stadium Coup) and "Perder es cuestión de Método" (The method of losing), official selection at Venice Film Festival, by Colombian director Sergio Cabrera, "Terranova", opposite Antonio Banderas, and "Just for the time being" among many others. A major star in the Latin American television industry, Ms. Lazo has played leading roles in many top rated series and movies including the Spanish version of Grey's Anatomy "A corazón abierto", "The Madame", "About Women", "Alone" and "Against winds and tides". Ms. Lazo was named by Variety as one of the best female performers in Spanish television at the Mipcom convention in Cannes. On stage, Ms. Lazo's extensive credits include award winning performances in Tennessee William's "A view from the bridge", Shakespeare "Twelfth night", Chekov's "The Segull" and "Uncle Vania", Noel Coward's "Blythe Spirit" and Neil Simon's "The last of the red hot lovers" among more than thirty plays. For 20 years she has performed the record-breaking one-woman show "The applause is within you", with over 3000 performances in 13 countries. This show has become the most successful theater show in Venezuelan history and was broadcast by HBO for Latin America.
