- Claude Laydu was born on March 10, 1927 in Brussels, Belgium. He was an actor and writer, known for Journal d'un curé de campagne (1951), Symphonie inachevée (1956) and Raspoutine (1954). He was married to Christine Laydu. He died on July 29, 2011 in Massy, Essonne, France.

- On stage from the age of 15. Studied acting in Paris under Jean-Louis Barrault. Never subsequently succeeded in matching his highly-acclaimed debut performance as the titular star of Bresson's Journal d'un curé de campagne (1951).
