Steven Bochco Goes Canadian With 'Evolution'
He loves creating police and medical dramas like "Hill Street Blues," "Doogie Howser, M.D." and "NYPD Blue." But can Steven Bochco create science-fiction? Canadian producer Entertainment One says yes, and is investing in Bochco's new series, "Evolution." Set 3 million years in the future centered around some ancient human knowledge that is unearthed (vastly affecting society around it), Bochco created "Evolution" with Bryan Law. It's not clear how many episodes will be produced upfront, but eOne -- behind shows like "Primeval: New World" and "Saving Hope" -- will handle international distribution outside of Canada. Steven Bochco and Entertainment One to Develop Futuristic Series Evolution
Perennial TV showrunner Steven Bochco (Raising the Bar, NYPD Blue) is dipping his toes into the sci-fi waters, as he has teamed with Entertainment One to produce a new futuristic series entitled Evolution, to be marketed at the Miptv conference (it’s a worldwide TV movers-and-shakers marketplace and convention) next month.

Variety reported the news about the proposed series, which is set 3 million years in the future, and follows a boy who discovers a box that contains the store of human knowledge, bringing him eventual leadership. Entertainment One describes the series as a “tale of perpetual tension and suspense.” The series will be co-written by Bochco and Bryan Law, who will be a supervising producer.

Good luck to all! We’ll keep you posted.

eOne Partners With Steven Bochco For Futuristic Drama Series ‘Evolution’
Entertainment One has teamed with NYPD Blue co-creator Steven Bochco for his next straight-to-series drama project, Evolution. Created and written by Bochco and Bryan Law and to be produced by eOne in association with Steven Bochco Prods, Evolution is set 3 million years in the future where Social Darwinism is born once more. A discovery by a tribe of Homo sapiens is about to change the world — a Box that offers the whole of human knowledge has been unearthed and the meekest of the group, The Boy, is first to interpret its lessons. Bochco will executive produce with eOne’s John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg, with Law serving as supervising producer. eOne will handle worldwide sales and is taking the project to MipTV, which starts this weekend. “I look forward to exploring the mysteries of humanity and the secrets of the universe with eOne,” Bochco said. “John, Michael, Peter (Emerson) and...
