Saving Bikini Bottom fails to live up to its potential, leaving fans disappointed with poor execution. Sandy Cheeks doesn't shine in this humorless SpongeBob spin-off that misses comedic opportunities. Fans consider Saving Bikini Bottom one of the worst releases in the franchise, a letdown for SpongeBob lovers.
Everybodys favorite sea sponge is officially a quarter of a century old, and to celebrate, Netflix released a brand-new SpongeBob movie last week. This time, a squirrel girl from Texas gets a long-awaited adventure of her own in Saving Bikini Bottom: A Sandy Cheeks Movie. On paper, this seems like a great idea for a film; the other SpongeBob spin-offs from the last few years have been a mixed bag, but Sandy has always been an underutilized character, and the prospect of letting her briefly go back home to Texas is enticing.
Sadly, the execution of Saving Bikini Bottom leaves much to be desired.

Sandy Cheeks gets a chance to shine in a supremely silly rescue mission with SpongeBob and friends in tow. Goofy musical interludes and a bonkers plot keep the chuckles coming for young fans and die-hard followers. The film runs out of steam and slogs for an unfunny and awkward half an hour before picking up pace and ending with glorious zaniness.
Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie gives SpongeBob SquarePants' beloved neighbor and anthropomorphized genius squirrel her very own adventure with the entire gang in tow. Carolyn Lawrence, who's voiced Sandy with a trademark Texas drawl for a quarter-century, shines in a supremely silly rescue mission that's meant for the youngest tykes and die-hard fans of the show. Goofy musical interludes keep the chuckles coming when the truly nutty plot grasps for straws. Neophytes won't have a clue what's going on, but that's forgivable in this case. Chuck your...

Nickelodeon is expanding the porous and bubbly animated maritime sitcom universe of “SpongeBob SquarePants” with 52 new episodes across the franchise, including the flagship show that started it all and two recent Bikini Bottom additions, “Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years” and “The Patrick Star Show.” All three of the property’s series are currently in production at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, California.
“SpongeBob is the centerpiece of our franchise strategy to expand the worlds of our characters and grow our global reach even further,” Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation, said in a statement announcing the massive greenlight. “It’s a property that wins on every platform because the richness of the characters and the comedy intrinsic to the storytelling continue to appeal to so many fans around the world.”

Exclusive: Nickelodeon is extending its three-series SpongeBob SquarePants franchise with a combined order for 52 new episodes, which includes a Kamp Koral Season 2 renewal. The pickup is comprised of a 13-episode Season 13 back order for the original SpongeBob SquarePants series and 13 more episodes added to the first season of spinoff The Patrick Star Show — both on Nickelodeon — as well as a total of 26 episodes for CG-animated prequel Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years on Paramount+, a 13-episode Season 1 back order and a 13-episode Season 2 pickup.
A decade into SpongeBob SquarePants‘ run, Nickelodeon, under then-new President Brian Robbins, started expanding the TV universe of its flagship — and longest running — animated series. The effort has yielded two new series so far, Kamp Koral, which migrated to ViacomCBS streamer Paramount+, and The Patrick Star Show. The three series are all currently in production at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank.

There may not be a more iconic opening in the modern animation landscape than that of SpongeBob SquarePants. Only one cartoon jingle is bold enough to ask questions like “who lives in a Pineapple under the sea?” and demand to know if “nautical nonsense be something you wish.”
The show open for SpongeBob SquarePants’ second spinoff, The Patrick Star Show, has a lot to live up to then. It’s unlikely to be as infamous and influential as its forefather’s opening (because what could be?) but that doesn’t mean it can’t have some fun on its own. Thankfully, we’re happy to report that the intro for The Patrick Star Show is quite fun! And don’t just take our word for it, because thanks to the kind folks at Nickelodeon, we can exclusively reveal it right now. Take a look below:

Who lives in a coffee pot under the sea? Patrick Star, apparently….
In case you haven’t already heard, everyone’s favorite sea echinoderm is getting his own spinoff show! Longtime neighbor and best friend to SpongeBob SquarePants is ditching his classic under-a-rock abode and is changing scenery to spend time with his sea star family! And while there might be some retconning involved with Patrick’s kin, we don’t need to dive deep into the specifics of SpongeBob canon, do we?
Our friends at Nickelodeon have provided us an exclusive first look at the brand new open for The Patrick Star Show! Let’s take a look….
The intro gets straight to business with Patrick announcing, “Hi I’m Patrick Star, and I live with my parents!” as he proceeds to slam his arm when he closes the door. Patrick’s appearance has changed slightly from his SpongeBob days,...

Are you ready, kids? Nickelodeon just released a sneak peek of “The Patrick Star Show,” the second nautical and nonsensical spinoff of Stephen Hillenburg’s highly meme-able “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
The new 13-episode series is described as a sitcom starring the tubby, pink titular protagonist — with Bill Fagerbakke returning to voice the role — and the rest of the Star family as they get constantly disrupted by Patrick’s wild whims and surreal imagination. The prequel follows a younger Patrick living at home with his family, where he hosts his own variety show for the neighborhood for his TV-turned-bedroom. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, “The Patrick Star Show” will debut this July on Nickelodeon. Its CG-spinoff predecessor, “Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years,” debuted earlier this year on Paramount Plus.
Veteran voices of the original series featured in the spinoff include Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks...
