She has a younger brother, Mathieu, and has both Sephardi Jewish (from Tunisia) and Ashkenazi Jewish (from Poland) ancestry. In 1998, Laurent was visiting the set of Astérix & Obélix contre César (1999) with a friend when she caught the attention of Gérard Depardieu. - When I read the script of Inglourious Basterds (2009), I was like, wow, it's been my dream to kill [Adolf Hitler] since I was like four, so I was kind of like Shosanna, already. I'm Jewish. I read the script, together with my grandfather, and he told me, "You have to make that movie, please". So, it was not just for me, it was for my family.
- [on Marion Cotillard] She's my most beautiful encounter cinema-wise. We resemble each other, we both hate jealousy between girls.
- [on her character Shoshanna] Ya, she's calm, strong, she's a little bit dead inside and she wants revenge.
- [on A Ses Pieds] It's a female vision, so it was really soft core and chic and I just dress all my actresses in Chanel... they were the most beautiful girls.
- I was dying for a cigarette and it was really forbidden and everyone was like "Gasp! Whattt!!!" And I was like "I'm French, what am I gonna do?" You can't smoke here, but you invented the cigarette!
