Ryan Reynolds is Bringing Alf Back for His Maximum Effort Channel
Image
Ryan Reynolds is bringing back the classic TV show Alf through sponsored segments on the Maximum Effort Channel. The segments, titled Maximum Moments, will feature the famous alien and aim to blur the lines between shows and sponsorship. Reynolds licensed the show because of his love for Alf and the opportunity to bring the character back to life with the help of brand partners.

Alf is coming back to the small screen thanks to Ryan Reynolds. After revealing that he and his production company, Maximum Effort were working on a Biker Mice from Mars reboot, the Canadian actor is brining another classic back, but in a different form.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this Monday that Reynolds, in association with Alf creator Paul Fusco and Shout! Studios will be getting the famous alien back in television as a part of some sponsored segments on the Maximum Effort Channel, which...

Paul Fusco and Mihaly 'Michu' Meszaros in ALF (1986)
The 'Alf' controversy: To care or not to care?
Paul Fusco and Mihaly 'Michu' Meszaros in ALF (1986)
On the one hand, the Interwebs have been all in a tizzy of late about a leaked gag reel from that paragon of 1980s sitcom excellence, Alf, in which the title puppet alien life form partakes in some ribald shenanigans with the cast and crew before dropping the N-word in a not-so-funny riff on Tourette’s syndrome (he’s doing a spoof of an old La Law episode). TMZ even got actor John Lamotta — a.k.a. prying neighbor Trevor Ochmonek — to admit today in reaction to the video that “Alf was a piece of s–––. Worst work I ever did.

Alf's Shocking N-Bomb -- Producer Says 'No Big Deal'
In the midst of a racist N-bomb scandal -- former 80s sitcom star " Alf " is finding support from one of the show's main producers ... who claims the cat-eater's comments were not meant to be offensive. Raging Bull Review (Blu-Ray)
Nearly three decades after "Raging Bull” captivated audiences’ hearts, garnering several Academy Award nominations, the Award winning Scorsese classic comes to Blu-Ray Disc. Raging Bull is the story of John Lamotta (played by Robert De Niro), a middleweight boxer whose rise to stardom was countered by struggles with his own inner-demons. Like most Scorsese films of the time, it is a story of loneliness. Lamotta is a man who finds his way to the top with the woman of his dreams, only to fall back down into spiritual poverty as his own personality pushes away his loved ones. The story is told amidst the backdrop of gambling and of course the mob. Despite being a champion in the ring, Lamotta struggles to find success in his personal life before he eventually loses it all. Joe Pesci plays the role of Lamotta’s brother. In typical Pesci-De Niro mob team up fashion,...

Alf: The Furry Alien from Melmac that Just Won't Go Away
One of the more memorable and unusual TV shows of the 1980s was Alf. It centers around an alien named Gordon Shumway from the doomed planet Melmac. He crash lands his spaceship into the California garage of the Tanner family, who nickname him Alf (Alien Life Form). The cast of the show includes Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, Andrea Elson, and Benji Gregory, with John Lamotta, Liz Sheridan, Anne Meara, and Paul Dooley. The series ran on NBC for four seasons and 102 episodes.

Alf kept the Tanners quite busy as he was constantly breaking things, trying to eat their cat, and just overall being obnoxious. Filming on the show was apparently a lot to handle as well.

The production details of the series were kept relatively secret during the show's production. Once the series finished airing, many in the cast and crew have conceded that the series was a technical nightmare...
