With a background in fine arts and literature, Byron Lamarque moved into filmmaking as a writer, director, editor and cinematographer. His undergraduate French New Wave film, "L'Etranger", won best Director's Guild of Canada (DGC) student film and was subsequently broadcast on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's (CBC) showcase of talent "Canadian Reflections".

He returned to academia to do his MFA in film producing "After", a film inspired by his love of Michelangelo Antonioni's movies. "After" played at the Toronto International Film Festival among other notable festivals and was also showcased on "Canadian Reflections". Subsequently, he was awarded funding by the DGC, CBC, BC Film and Telefilm producing three more films.

"Once Upon A Time On The Beach", a film inspired by Sergio Leone, played at the Toronto International Film Festival and won Leo Awards for "Best Directing" and "Best Musical Score". Byron was then invited to attend The Norman Jewison Film Program, at the Canadian Film Centre. After successfully completing the program he went on to direct "Hide" a short film that played at the Toronto International Film Festival and "Dancing with Shadows" a low budget feature film funded by Telefilm's emerging artist program.

Most recently Byron directed "The Desiring" a southern gothic feature that won "Outstanding Feature Director" at The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival as well as "Best Emerging Director" and "Best Supporting Actor" (Randy Spence) at the Seattle Film Festival. The film also won awards for ""Best Cinematography" (Graham Pritz-Bennett) at the Prague Film Festival and "Audience Choice Award" at the RiverRun Film Festival.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Byron has been working as a writer and has worked with producer Lynda Obst on a sci-fi television project as well as having worked on successful pitches for LuckyChap Entertainment and Imagine Entertainment.
