Joe LaBarba, Born June 18, 1903 in New York , NY. ( Not Italy ) Moved to Los Angeles circa 1910. Brother of 'Fidel LaBarba' , ( former Olympic Gold Medalist, Former Worlds Flyweight Champion Boxer, and Screen writer at Fox Studios. ) Also Brother to Ted LaBarba, former Boxer and Studio Cameraman. the Spoilers ( 1930 ) , & Four Frightened People (1934 ). Joe had much involvement in the Boxing game, helping with his brother Fidel's career in the early days. 1920's to early 30's. Later, while working at Fox studio, Fidel was able to get His sister Marie, and brother Joe, gainful employment at the studio. Joe, becoming a union studio gaffer, spent most of the rest of his life working at that trade. RKO, Paramont, and Universal, were his common haunts. Many times on set, Joe would be pulled in a scene as an extra. Because of his boxing background, Joe was a favorite pick with Boxing themed films. After hours, Joe managed several Los Angels Boxing gyms, Including the Main Street Gym, when it was relocated in 1950 to an Elks lodge, located at the top of Angels Flight, on Bunker Hill.
