Veteran actor Dharmendra is facing legal issues. The Patiala House Court in Delhi has summoned him over a cheating case involving his restaurant franchise, the Garam Dharam Dhaba.

The summons was issued following a complaint by a businessman who alleged that he was cheated into investing in the restaurant franchise. Two others have also been named in the case.

New Delhi, Jan 20 (Ians) Ever since the country’s top grapplers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, among others, sat on a protest against the ‘misconduct’ of wrestling body chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, they are getting ample support from all corners, with the Indian Olympic Association (Ioa) forming a seven-member committee to probe the allegations.

The protest has now entered its third day, with no immediate solution in view.

The protesting grapplers are sticking to their demands of removal of the Wrestling Federation of India (Wfi) chief, dissolution of the wrestling body and formation of a new committee to run its affairs. Understandably, these players, who have won laurels for the country, are getting support for their courage.

However, the sudden protest by the wrestlers has raised a few questions as well.

The main question is who is actually behind these grapplers? Who’s guiding them?

New Delhi, Dec 31 (Ians) Injured India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant will be shifted to New Delhi for further treatment, especially for plastic surgery resulting from the burn injuries he suffered in the car accident in which he was involved on Friday morning.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (Ddca) president Rohan Jaitley said if needed and medically advisable, his organisation will airlift Pant from Dehradun to New Delhi for his plastic surgery.

“If medically advisable, we’ll airlift Rishabh Pant to Delhi for plastic surgery. We are in constant touch with Max Hospital Dehradun,” Ddca president Rohan Jaitley told Ians on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the results of Pant’s Mri of the brain and spine are normal, said a medical bulletin, after the cricketer suffered in a serious car accident near Roorkee, Uttarakhand on Friday morning.

New Delhi, Dec 14 (Ians) A petition has been filed before the Delhi High Court by deceased wrestler Sagar Dhankar’s father seeking transfer of the murder case of his son to a fast-track court for time-bound disposal.

The matter has been listed for the purpose of admission or denial of witnesses and evidence on January 21, 2023.

Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar, along with others, is accused of allegedly assaulting former junior national wrestling champion Dhankar, a resident of Haryana’s Rohtak, and his friends in the parking lot of the city’s Chhatrasal stadium, on May 4, 2021 over an alleged property dispute.

Dhankar had succumbed to injuries and according to the post-mortem report, he died due to cerebral damage resulting from blunt object impact.

In its petition moved through advocate Joginder Tuli, Dhankar’s father Ashok, had expressed apprehension about winning over the witnesses due to influence of the accused, including Sushil Kumar.

New Delhi, Aug 30 (Ians) In the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, India put up a contingent of 215 sportspersons. Out of these, 42 were from Haryana and they won 20 medals out of the 61 the country bagged. Haryana sportspersons won 9 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze medals at Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The state accounts for less than 2 percent of the country’s population.

The stats tell the story of Haryana’s domination of the Indian sports scene. Players from Haryana have been dominating every competition. Be it the National Games or at the International level, players from Haryana have got everyone’s attention with their performances.

New Delhi, May 23 (Ians) Delhi Police arrested India's two-time Olympic-medallist Sushil Kumar ironically when wrestling fraternity was celebrating World Wrestling Day.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police, which nabbed Kumar, did not hide its excitement, tweeting, "An Olympian and a national wrestler, running wanted for a crime of murder, arrested on World Wrestling Day (May 23). New Delhi, May 23 (Ians) Star wrestler Sushil Kumar's application to Delhi government to extend his deputation by a year has been rejected and sent back to his parent department -- Northern Railway. Kumar, who was on deputation with Delhi government since 2015 had already got extension for 2020 and was trying to get it for 2021 too.

"Last week, Delhi government had sent Kumar's file to Northern Railway, mentioning that the state government had rejected his request for extension," a source in Northern Railway told Ians.

"The state government also attached First Information Report (Fir) that linked Kumar's name with the murder of 23-year-old wrestler during a brawl on May 4 at Chhatrasal Stadium. Since he has been arrested by Delhi Police, he could lose also his job with Northern Railway also," the source added.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar, a two-time Olympic medallist, was on Saturday arrested in Punjab in connection with a brawl at Chhatrasal Stadium which had led to the death of a wrestler, media reports said.

Kumar was arrested by Punjab Police which will hand him to the Delhi Police.

A Delhi court had earlier declined to grant anticipatory bail to the wrestler who is the only Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals in individual sport. Kumar won bronze in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and silver in 2012 London Olympic Games in 66 kg category.

New Delhi, May 22 (Ians) India's two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who was on the run for over a fortnight for alleged links with the murder of former international wrestler Sagar Dhankar, was arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday, according to a source.

"Kumar has been arrested near Jalandhar. His associate Ajay Kumar, accused in the case, has also been arrested," a source told Ians.

On May 18, Kumar had moved an anticipatory bail in New Delhi's Rohini court, but the court rejected his bail plea.

Last week, Delhi Police had announced a cash award of Rs 1 lakh for feedback on the celebrated wrestler who was absconding since May 4.

On May 4, two groups of wrestlers clashed with each other at Chhatrasal Stadium leading to the death of 23-year-old Dhankar due to injuries he sustained during the brawl.

The Delhi court had also issued a non-bailable warrant (Nbw) against Kumar.

New Delhi, May 18 (Ians) Sushil Kumar, India's double Olympic medallist in wrestling, has put in application for anticipatory bail in the district court in Rohini here on Tuesday. Kumar is facing allegations of involvement in murder of a former international wrestler, who died earlier this month.

According to a source, the hearing is expected to take place later in the day.

New Delhi, March 10 (Ians) Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar has been re-elected president of the School games Federation of India (Sgfi) in the elections conducted under the supervision of retired Supreme Court Judge Bs Mathur.

According to results sheet (Form 13), signed by Justice Mathur, Vijay Santan has been elected secretary and Surendra Singh Bhati treasurer, besides Sushil. Eight vice-presidents, eight join secretaries, and six executive members have also been elected.

Sushil, has still not retired from wrestling, polled 54 votes, Santan 24, and Bhati 38. The result sheet did not mention the total number of voters.

New Delhi, Feb 11 (Ians) Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar (74kg) and 2016 Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik (62kg) have been dropped from the Wrestling Federation of India's (Wfi) annual contract due to "non-performance". Teenage wrestlers Anshu Malik (57kg) and Sonam Malik (62kg) of Haryana have replaced them in the 'A Category'.

World Championships bronze medallist Pooja Dhanda and Asian Games bronze medallist Divya Kakaran (68 kg) have been excluded from the scheme due average performance.

Sushil and Sakshi were part of 'A Category' of the contract that carried an annual financial assistance of Rs.30 lakh for 2020-21 season that they could use for training and related purpose.

"The cash incentive is to support the athletes so that their overall performance gets better at the global level. If any player isn't performing, he or she wouldn't get the financial support from the federation," said Wfi assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.

New Delhi, Feb 5 (Ians) The sports ministry on Friday declared the recent elections of the School Games Federation of India (Sgfi) null and void. The Sgfi had elected new office bearers during its annual general body meeting held in December in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

The ministry, however, rejected the Sgfi request to grant annual recognition to it as a national sports federation (Nsf) that oversees sports at the school level on the grounds that the National Sports Development Code 2011 guidelines were overlooked during the December elections.

The ministry in a letter to the Sgfi said that the Sgfi should hold the elections again as per the Sports Code.

Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who was president of the Sgfi, had alleged that the Sgfi secretary general Rajesh Mishra had manipulated Sgfi constitution to stay in power.

Sushil had also alleged that Mishra had forged his signature to change the by-laws of the Sgfi.

Noida, Jan 23 (Ians) Narsingh Yadav's day at the freestyle Wrestling National Championship started with him beaming on stage at the Noida Stadium as he was felicitated by the Wrestling Federation of India (Wfi). It ended dramatically with him fuming and distraught after he was beaten by Amit Dhankar in a thrilling 74kg quarter-final bout.

Yadav led 2-1 until the very last second of a bout in which both wrestlers took a defensive approach. Dhankar, however, managed to snatch two points via exposure, when a wrestler puts his opponent on his back, just as the clock ticked down to zero. It was followed by a lengthy review process with Yadav's camp claiming that the exposure came after time was up. After the big screen gave a rather blurry image of the time and score on the television screens beside the mat, the officials switched to watching the replay from the television itself.

Noida, Jan 22 (Ians) Narsingh Yadav, the 2015 World Championships bronze medallist (74kg), will play in his first competition at the national level since serving a four-year doping ban on Saturday when he competes in men's National Freestyle Wrestling Championships here.

Yadav, who was banned before the 2016 Rio Olympics after failing two dope tests for anabolic steroid methandienone, made his international comeback in the Individual World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia, from December 12 to 18. He lost to Germany's Osman Kubilay Cakici in a close opening-round bout.

Satyamev Jayate had everything in it to gain popularity with its aim to spread social awareness. And on Thursday, Aamir Khan and Star’s CEO Uday Shankar were honoured by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (Ncsc) in Delhi for their reality show Sataymev Jayate, which brought social issues to light and helped spread awareness about them. They also highlighted their contribution to the issue of untouchability on International Valmiki Day at a function.

Bihar-based Kumar is currently a participant in dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5″, and Abhishek came to promote his forthcoming movie “Bol Bachchan” on it.

Kumar’s performance was a tribute to 100 years of cinema. Abhishek was touched by the act, and even taught the ‘crorepati’ winner some dance moves.
