- Rakesh Kumar was born on October 18, 1941. He was a director and writer, known for Mr. Natwarlal (1979), Suryavanshi (1992) and Do Aur Do Paanch (1980). He died on November 10, 2022 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
- Started off as an assistant to K.B. Lal and went on to assist Chand Srivastav .
- His daughter is also working with Pooja and Aarti Shetty creatively .
- One evening when Chand and Rakesh were sitting and drinking tharra, Rakesh told him that Bohra Brothers had asked me to direct a film for them. Chand told Rakesh that he should not take up the offer because he feared that he would be stamped for life as a stunt filmmaker like Chand and advised Rakesh to wait till he got a bigger break. Rakesh was glad he waited and took up Prakash Mehra's offer to be assistant to him in Aan Baan as a second assistant. Rakesh went on to assist him in films including Haath Ki Safai.

- Daughter Neha (Indu) Kumar Sharma works as casting director with Pooja Shetty. She is now married to actor Karan Sharma (Son of director actor Romesh Sharma).
