Lisa Wilcox interview: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5 heroine looks back on her battles with Freddy Krueger
Heather Langenkamp in Les Griffes de la nuit (1984)
The A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has some of the best heroines of the horror genre – and my personal favorite of the Elm Street heroines is Alice Johnson, played by Lisa Wilcox in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child. JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was able to catch up with Wilcox at the Ve Neill’s Vampire Weekend convention in California last month and talked with her about her encounters with Freddy Krueger and the experience of working on those classic ’80s horror films. You can hear what Wilcox had to say by checking out the video embedded above.

Directed by Renny Harlin from a screenplay by Brian Helgeland, Ken Wheat, and Jim Wheat (with Helgeland also sharing story credit with William Kotzwinkle), A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master has the following synopsis: Your fave psycho-sandman is back!

Patricia Arquette Has a Specific Requirement to Return to 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'
Image
The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has seen its fair share of final girls, but one that many fans would love to catch up with again is Patricia Arquette's Kristen Parker. At least the version she portrayed in 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, before actress Tuesday Knight took over the role in the fourth installment and encountered a grisly fate. Arquette's Kristen has become a fan favorite over the years, and while the actress rarely talks about doing the film, she did recently reveal what it would take for her to return to the iconic franchise.

During a chat with ComicBook, while Arquette was promoting the upcoming season of Apple TV+'s Severance, she was asked if she would ever return to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. As it turns out, the actress has a very specific requirement that needs to be in...

Why Patricia Arquette Ditched The Freddy Franchise After A Nightmare On Elm Street 3
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The "Nightmare on Elm Street" film series was a hotbed for emerging talent. Many of the directors in the franchise would go on to prolific or interesting careers. Chuck Russell, director of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" would go on to make Hollywood blockbusters like "The Mask," "Eraser," and "The Scorpion King." Renny Harlin, who directed "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" would likewise enter the Hollywood mainstream with films like "Predator 2," "Die Hard 2," "Cliffhanger," and "Cutthroat Island." Jack Sholder, Stephen Hopkins, and Rachael Talalay also emerged from the series' directors pool.

One can also find a few rising actors at the start of their careers throughout the Freddy Krueger movies. Famously, a young Johnny Depp starred in Wes Craven's 1984 original, and, for "Dream Warriors," Patricia Arquette made her cinematic debut.

‘The Bloody Man’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: David Daniel, Lisa Wilcox, Tuesday Knight, Jeremy Carr, Sam Hadden, Olivia Sanders | Written by Daniel Benedict, Casi Clark | Directed by Daniel Benedict

The Bloody Man begins with a night shot of assorted Masters of the Universe toys on a table, telling us that it’s another throwback to the 80s. Granted if you saw any of the film’s announcements hyping the presence of two actresses from A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Lisa Wilcox and Tuesday Knight you probably guessed that already.

Sam (David Daniel) has recently lost his mother Laurie (Lisa Wilcox). His father wasted no time in moving stepmom Kim (Tuesday Knight) in. To make it worse, both his brother Michael (Sam Hadden) and sister Amy (Olivia Sanders) accept her, while Sam is suspicious of her and her motives.

It’s this family dynamic, along with Sam being bullied at school, that takes...

Joelle Carter Narrating ‘Secrets Of The Sea’; Bif Naked Doc In Works; Freestyle Acquires Coming-Of-Age Pics ‘We Burn Like This’ And ‘Love You Anyway’; More – Film Briefs
Image
Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has acquired North American rights to a pair of coming-of-age dramas: writer-director Alana Waksman’s debut feature We Burn Like This, and writer-director Anna Matz’s first feature, Love You Anyway. The digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group plans to release both titles across internet and satellite platforms on June 28.

Inspired by true events, the former film from Armian Pictures shows the inherited effects of historical trauma and the strength of survival and healing. When 22-year-old Rae (Madeleine Coghlan), a descendant of Holocaust survivors, is targeted by Neo-Nazis in Billings, Montana, her ancestors’ trauma becomes real. As antisemitism continues to rise in the community, we follow Rae on her journey to forgive herself, her mother and the broken world. We Burn Like This also stars Reservation Dogs‘ Devery Jacobs, as well as Kendra Mylnechuk, Angelo Rizzo, Casidee Riley and Megan Folsom.

‘The Rideshare Killer’ Review
Image
Stars: Tuesday Knight, Victoria De Mare, Croix Provence, Jeffry Druce, Oliver Robins, James Balsamo, Shuja Paul, Anouk Samuel, Gavin Peretti, Eric Roberts | Written and Directed by Ashley Scott Meyers

How many ride-sharing, serial killing, psychos are we going to get in horror movies? We seem to be getting a new rideshare horror movie at least once every-other month! It seems the “killer in the woods” trope of the genre is officially being replaced by guys (or girls) driving around in rideshare vehicles killing folks willy-nilly. To be fair though, “don’t get into cars with strangers” has been something of a cultural touchstone since the invention of the motor vehicle, though in my day that ‘threat’ was usually aimed at kids and strangers with candy tempting children into vans!

Given that we’ve had a lot of these kinds of films recently, as a filmmaker it’s starting to take...

John Travolta Addresses Idina Menzel/ 'Adele Dazeem' Oscar Fail
John Travolta has released a statement on his embarrassing introduction of Idina Menzel at the Oscars, in which he called her ‘Adele Dazeem’ (of Adele Dazim, depending on spelling preferences.)

"The 'Wickedly' Talented Adele Dazeem"

Travolta’s completely off base introduction made him an instant punch line of the night, and John Travolta, Idina Menzel, Adele Dazeem and Adele Dazim were all trending on Twitter during Sunday’s ceremony.

Menzel, who performed the Oscar-winning song “Let It Go” from Frozen, did not let the introduction bother her, as she went on stage and delivered a brilliant performance of the massive hit song. She has not commented on the flub.

John Travolta Releases Statement

After a days of ridicule, Travolta released a statement on the now infamous introduction, saying, “I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought…What would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, ‘Let it go,...

Brian Williams Apologizes To Arsenio Hall For Omission
Well, that didn’t take long. In light of the recent controversy involving talk show host Arsenio Hall’s exclusion from a number of media pieces covering the current “battle for Late Night,” the apologies have started to creep in.On Tuesday night, Hall, clearly upset that only a select group of Caucasian talk show hosts were mentioned in The New York Times and on NBC when discussing Jimmy Fallon’s evening competitors, urged his viewers to call the National Broadcasting Company and complain. Academy Rescinds Best Original Song Nomination for Alone Yet Not Alone Citing Insider Campaigning
In an odd bit of pre-Oscars drama, one of the Academy's nominations has been rescinded citing insider campaigning. Now before you point fingers in the direction of the closest Weinstein, let me tell you that the nomination that has been yanked out of contention is the Best Original Song nod for Alone Yet Not Alone's title song. Bruce Broughton, a former Academy member who wrote the music for the song, made the mistake of emailing Academy members to bring his song to their attention. That little bit of insider campaigning explains how this little-talked-about picture landed a nomination, and why it's been pulled (which might end up bringing more attention to the film anyway). Beverly Hills, CA — On Tuesday night, the Academy’s Board of Governors voted to rescind the Original Song nomination for “Alone Yet Not Alone,...

Movie Review: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
Review by Chris Risdal, MoreHorror.com

Now for many people, the best Noes sequel is number 3 for various reasons. It showed the return of Wes Craven as a writer, and we also have Chuck Russell (The Blob ‘88’) as both writer and a superb director. So it would make sense that anything that would come after would most likely be the whipping boy if it wasn't as good. Now, does that make part 4 a bad sequel? No, not at all in fact, it’s one of my personal favorites in the series. Does that make it better than part 3? No, not really as it does begin to fall into cliché and cheap scares, along with the descent of Freddy Krueger into a clown.

‘The Dream Master’ begins with the remaining Elm St. children from the last film living in peace: except for Kristen, who was originally played by a young Patricia Arquette...

Fright Rags Teases Dream Master Freddy Shirt
Jason gets plenty of love at Fright Rags, but we see less designs from them based on A Nightmare On Elm Street. Next month, they will be releasing a new “Dream Master” design based on A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 and featuring Tuesday Knight and Robert Englund.

We don’t have specific details on the release, but we’re assuming it will be similar to recent limited edition offerings. If that is the case, you’re looking at around $25 (+s/h) and there will be a limited pre-order window over the course of a few days. We’ll have more information on the release in the coming weekes. Until then, take a look at the official shirt design below:...

B-Sides: Tuesday Knightmare on Elm Street
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master was probably a career peak for actress Tuesday Knight. Well, the first act of that horror sequel was anyway. Her character may not have been long for this world, but at least she got a chance to sing the opening credits song before getting tossed in a furnace by Freddy.

Tuesday Knight inherited the role of Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors survivor Kristen from actress Patricia Arquette after Arquette decided she wanted to move on to bigger and better film roles that didn’t involve appearing a movie just long enough to get chucked into a furnace by Robert England in the first act of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

The young ingénue was trying to launch a singing career at the time as well, and her biggest musical break would be having her...
