William Paul Nuckles was born on August 25, 1939. The son of William and Elizabeth Rainwater Nuckles, Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran and avid motorcycle enthusiast. A highly respected stuntman, actor, and second unit director, Nuckles first began performing stunts in motion pictures in the late 1960's. Paul was the stunt coordinator for the hit TV shows "CHiPs" and "Miami Vice" as well as various films that include "C.C. & Company," "Slaughter," "Gentle Savage," "Cleopatra Jones," "Policewomen," "Devil Times Five," "Race with the Devil," "The Black Gestapo," "Futureworld," "Speedtrap," "Saturday Night Fever," "When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?," and "Places in the Heart." Moreover, Nuckles was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, the Directors Guild of America, and the Hollywood Stuntmen's Hall of Fame. Paul died at age 75 on April 10, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee following a brief illness; he's survived by his daughter Paula Nuckles Harris, half-brother Claude Robinson, and five grandchildren.
