Subhash K Jha shines the light on Mamta Kulkarni’s life and career in this special feature.
Why did Mamta Kulkarni become untouchable for the film industry? At one time, she had the best banners. Alas, she didn’t have the manners to go with the banners. A certain crassness was noticed in her behaviour. The industry clung to the crudity and disregarded the girl’s obvious confidence before the camera.
In one of his press interviews, Bharat Shah was once quoted as saying Mamta Kulkarni is a “loose woman.” I do believe the polite and soft-spoken producer-tycoon was misquoted. How can any individual of such stature and power talk so “loosely” about a lady?
Mamta had it all. Then she went and lost it to God knows what. Perhaps her ego? Or was it the desire to reach the moon without getting her feet snarled in the caters?

Subhash K Jha, takes on Sushmita Sen’s Karma Aur Holi, which released in 2009, in this new This Day That Year feature.
A few minutes into this mish-mash of Woody Allen, George Bernard Shaw, Govind Nihalani, and Keshu Ramsay, you know the narrative is in trouble. The characters who come to Sushmita-Randeep’s home in New York for an afternoon of heavy-duty gossiping, bitching introspection, and confession seem to be speaking dialogues borrowed from a cheap American soap opera. The feelings and thoughts are not only assumed, but they are also devoid of any coherent pattern. The script tries to be sassy without the basic source material to carry off its ambitions.
What was Sushmita Sen thinking when she decided to work in this tableau of titillating possibilities on man-woman relationships all gone to utter and irrevocable waste? Karma Aur Holi with huge dollops of confession thrown in with the...

The Ramsay Brothers are pioneers of Indian horror cinema, taking inspiration from Western horror films and creating their own unique aesthetic. Despite their low budget and inexperience, the Ramsay Brothers achieved commercial success, and their films remain influential today. The Ramsay Brothers have a cult following, with their films being appreciated for their blend of horror, comedy, and cultural elements, particularly in the West.
Every country has its pioneers in the horror genre, those that first challenged the cultural norms to create frightening material that forever changed the face of cinema. This has led to great success and accolades, such as George Romero's invention of the modern horror genre, to controversy and scrutiny, such as the blasphemous work of Coffin Joe in Brazil. However, the Indian filmmakers known collectively as the Ramsay Brothers have one of the more intriguing rises to prominence, creating wholly unique films inspired by iconic...

Though the name Ramsay is synonymous with Indian horror films, very few may be aware that they have also given some popular films in the action thriller genre. Keshu Ramsay produced about five Akshay Kumar films in the 'Khiladi' series and now Aryeman Ramsay wants to keep the genre alive with his upcoming next. Aryeman Ramsay has been toying with the idea of making an action thriller about two men who become millionaires overnight. He mentioned that the film is inspired from a real life incident which happened in U.S wherein two men gambled their way to success, fame and money and later proved that they did it to escape the clutches of law. Aryeman, who knows Nawaz since the Ramsay lad's acting debut in Family (2006), is glad that amidst the stardom, Siddiqui has maintained his humble nature. The filmmaker is currently on a hunt for actresses...

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
An audience member asking to hear a professional singer perform queries from Yahoo! Answers inspired this bit on "The Tonight Show," where Tony winner Audra McDonald was joined by actor Josh Charles and host Jimmy Fallon to sing real questions and answers from the site. Some of the questions were fairly straightforward -- "How can I be the life of the party?" -- while others were...less than intelligent. (The person worrying about how to dislodge a swallowed ice cube may need to seek professional help.) Our fingers are crossed that this concept is added to Fallon's regular rotation of quirky recurring gags.
