  • Ludovic Kennedy was knighted in 1994.
  • Was impersonated by Eric Idle on Monty Python's Flying Circus ; Absurde, n'est-il pas? (1969) and by Henry McGee on The Benny Hill Show (1969)
  • He undertook many campaigns on behalf of people who had been wrongly convicted of murder, including Derek Bentley and Timothy Evans. In many cases, his efforts were vindicated.
  • Had 4 children, Ailsa Margaret Kennedy (born August 11, 1952), Rachel Katherine Kennedy (born November 16, 1956), Fiona Jane Kennedy (born December 20, 1961) and Alastair Charles Coverley Kennedy (born February 10, 1963), with his wife, Moira Shearer.
  • Sir Ludovic Kennedy was awarded honorary degrees by the Universities of Edinburgh, Strathclyde and Stirling.
  • Son-in-law of Harold V. King.
  • Brother-in-law of Royce Ryton.
  • His name was suggested as a possible candidate for knighthood during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher, who vetoed him. After her departure, he was offered a CBE but declined saying it was ridiculous "to be a commander of a non-existent empire".
  • He took the title of his autobiography, "On My Way to the Club", from a review that said of the Eton-educated Kennedy's TV presenting style, "He gives me the impression that he has been good enough to drop by to see if he can lend a hand while on his way to the club".
