  • He became famous as the guitarist, songwriter and occasional synthesizer player of Spandau Ballet, one of Britain's biggest bands of the 1980s.
  • He has only one kidney while his brother Martin has three.
  • He is the older brother of Martin Kemp and brother-in-law of Shirlie Kemp. The brothers trained at the Anna Scher Theatre School. Their contemporaries included Phil Daniels, Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke.
  • His biggest hit, "True", was directly influenced by his love of Marvin Gaye and Al Green. The lyrics were delicately influenced by Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita. It was later sampled for the PM Dawn hit "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss".
  • The first album he bought was T. Rex's "Electric Warrior".
  • He has two sons, Finlay Munro Kemp (born September 20th 1990) with Sadie Frost, and Milo Wolf Kemp (born July 14th 2004) with Lauren Barber.
  • His band Spandau Ballet won the Sony Award For Technical Excellence in 1984 following the worldwide success of their album "True", which was one of the biggest albums of 1983.
  • The first band he saw was Slade when he was 11.
  • He first started acting at the age of 8 and joined the Anna Scher Childrens Theatre in Islington, London.
  • He was married to actress Sadie Frost, and they have a son.
  • The first single he bought was "Apeman" by The Kinks.
