  • (December 3, 2011) Dev Anand, her husband of 56 years, Dev Anand, died from cardiac arrest at the age of 88.
  • Her nephew is director Shekhar Kapur.
  • Her cousin is Uma Anand's mother. Uma's husband filmmaker Chetan Anand saw Mona in a beauty contest and decided that she was the right actress for his production company Navketan. He gave Mona her screen name of Kalpana Kartik, and cast her opposite his brother Dev Anand in Baazi (1951). Dev fell in love with her and later married her.
  • Has 2 children with, her now late husband, Dev Anand - a son named Suneil Devdutt Anand (aka Suneil Anand; b.June 30, 1956) and a daughter named Devina Anand.
  • She had a inter-religious marriage with Dev Anand, since he was a Hindu, and she was a Christian.
  • She came from a privileged Christian family, since her father was a Tehsildar of Batala in Gurdaspur District, Punjab, India. She was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters. She attended a prestigious college in Shimla when she was discovered for the movies.
  • She ended her acting career when she married her leading man Dev Anand. She was later credited as an Associate Producer on some of the films that her husband acted in.
  • Her 5 films with Dev Anand were box office hits. All her films were successful. But she discontinued acting career after her marriage with Dev Anand.
