Mumbai, March 3 (Ians) ‘Kanpur ka Tarana’ Vaibhav Gupta has lifted the coveted trophy of the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 14’. The trophy came with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh and a ‘Hot and Techy’ Brezza car.

Vaibhav was one of the six finalists, who included Shubhadeep Das Chowdhury, Ananya Pal, Adya Mishra, Piyush Panwar and Anjana Padmanabhan.

Shubhadeep and Piyush were declared the first and second runners-up, and they went back home with a trophy and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh each. Ananya was the third runner-up, which entitled her to Rs 3 lakh, besides a trophy.

Sonu Nigam, who judged the first two and ninth editions of the show, was the special judge for the grand finale. Neha Kakkar, who will be seen as the ‘super judge’ in the upcoming season of the reality show, ‘Superstar Singer’, also joined the finale episode.

Excited and glad over the opportunity, the ‘Jailer’ actor took to his X account, formerly Twitter, and shared a picture of the two acting behemoths standing alongside one another.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan as Iqbal Aslam Khan, a railway coolie, who was separated from his mother Salma (Waheeda Rehman) due to Zafar’s (Kadar Khan) obsession with her that causes the destruction of her family and her mental breakdown.

Years later, fate unites her sons, Iqbal and Sunny (Rishi Kapoor) and they set out to save Salma from Zafar’s captivity. It also stars Rati Agnihotri, Shoma Anand, Suresh Oberoi and Puneet Issar.

Little did I know that he was just performing the scene but I was just mesmerised seeing him perform a gag which was so funny that the entire set was laughing.

Mumbai, Jan 19 (Ians) Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday shared a throwback black and white photo of himself from the sets of his 1979 film Mr Natwarlal which also features Hrithik Roshan as a young boy of four or five.

In the photograph, Amitabh Bachchan features alongside the film's music director Rajesh Roshan and a young Hrithik. Big B turned nostalgic while recalling the recording of the song titled "Mere paas aao mere doston" for the action comedy.

A film festival is set to pay homage to Indian cinema's noted names Veeru Devgan, actor-filmmaker Kader Khan, Mrinal Sen and Girish Karnad.

The legacy of the legends will be remembered at the 10th edition of the Jagran Film Festival, where two movies of each of them will be screened.

National Award winning actor Anupam Kher says he is not part of the remake of the super hit film 'Coolie No 1', and put the speculation to rest.

Reports had said he would be playing the role of Kader Khan in the remake of the film. Kher told a publication: "No, I am not playing any role in the remake of 'Coolie No 1'. There is no truth in the report."

Directed by David Dhawan, the film, which is a cult classic of 1995, featured Govinda and Karishma Kapoor. Late Kader Khan played the role of Hoshyar Chand.

In the remake version of the film, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will be the lead pair.

'Coolie No 1' is expected to release in May next year.

Late legendary actor-filmmaker Dev Anand's grandson Rishi Anand is set to make his Bollywood debut with the remake of Govinda-starrer Saajan Chale Sasural.

Saajan Chale Sasural 2 will also feature actors Chunkey Pandey, Arya Babbar, Hemant Pandey, Sonal Monteiro and Ishita Raj in pivotal roles. It will be produced by Mansoor Ahmed Siddiqui, who had earlier produced the original film.

Veteran Bollywood actor-screenwriter Kader Khan died Monday after a long illness at a hospital in Toronto, Canada, his family confirmed to Indian media outlets. He was 81.

“My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness,” his son Sarafaraz told India news agency Pti. “He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks.”

Born to an Afghan father and a mother from British-controlled India, Khan made his acting debut in 1973 in Daag: A Poem of Love. He went on to appear in small roles in films including Gupt Gyan, Bairaag, Goonj, and Amari among others. The film takes laughter to its original form with the laughter aces Om Puri, Sanjay Mishra, Raajpal Yadav, Razzaq Khan and the veteran Kader Khan coming together.

“It’s a peppy humourous song from a father’s point of view, underlining the irony of things,” says the film’s director-cum-music composer Fauzia Arshi. “Mika sings about the new-age hi-tech, uncontrolled, over-intelligent generation, born into an era with everything is on their finger tips.”

Mika Singh has become the first singer-caricature in a feature film to have an entire animated song to himself in Fauzia Arshi’s upcoming film Hogaya Dimaagh Ka Dahi (Hdkd).

“The picturisation itself was born out of coincidence. Mika recorded ‘Baap Hona Paap,’ based on a father’s point of view of his kin. I was keen to film it on him as the introductory song,” informs the film’s director-cum-music composer Fauzia Arshi.

“But as Mika was out of town for a few days, I had this idea about getting the entire song made with an animated caricature of Mika and showing it to him as a surprise,” reveals Fauzia. When she did, Mika was head over heels in love with his caricature. So they decided to retain it.

The movie is a sequel to the 2010 hit thriller 'Once Upon a time in Mumbai', which depicted the power struggle between a smuggler and a younger gangster in the 1970s.

But unlike its prequel, the film is about love and war between two gangsters.

Kader Khan said the trend of sequels in Indian cinema has come to stay, and should not be seen as lack of talent among script writers.

Khan's son Sarfaraz Khan is playing the role of best friend to an underworld don, played by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.

Himmatwala is an official remake of the 1983 release which had Jeetendra and Sridevi in the leading roles. Directed by Sajid Khan, this version stars Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah. The original, with the exception of the soundtrack, it should be asserted that the 1983 Himmatwala is by no means a classic and it contains a number of imperfections that make it a very average film overall. This remake has been updated for the new generation of cinemagoers, with the screenplay also being edited with new twists and thrills. Despite the remake containing many holes, it is still a modestly enjoyable film that will not disappoint you. Surprisingly, all together this latest version by Sajid Khan is stronger than the original Himmatwala.
