James Kagel

Parasite 3-D
Nope, this isn’t the new Bong Joon-ho movie, but a 3-D oldie from 1982. Although it’s by no means a great picture, fans equipped for Blu-ray 3-D will want to take a look — the depth effects fashioned with the over’n’under Sterevision system are some of the best yet. Stan Winston provides director Charles Band with the ‘Alien’ rip-off title critters, and added interest is provided via an early appearance by Demi Moore, who sleepwalks through her part but certainly looks good. A full complement of extras tell the making-of story; the feature is also encoded in 2-D, for really imaginative viewers.

Exclusive: Interview with Writer/Director Dave Parker
by Jason Lees, MoreHorror.com

I’m a big fan of Dave Parker. I have been for a few years now. When I first saw The Dead Hate The Living it connected with me the way you do with fun movies that seem to be made just for you. (Sure, it has its share of haters, but so do I. I was, after all, married for a while there.) I dug it and all its flaws, which to me made it all the more fun.

A few years later I noticed the name kept popping up during the credits on the special features I was watching. Was it the same ‘Dave Parker’? A quick IMDb check showed it to be true and it got me curious. How does someone go from helming his own movie to making Epk’s? I did a little research and had my eyes opened a...

Plaguers (2008)
A Conversation with Brad Sykes, Director of Plaguers
Plaguers (2008)
On just about every Friday night, when I was a kid, back in the days before Netflix (or illegal BitTorrents for all you criminals out there, you know who you are), my parents used to take me to the video store (this being their idea of active recreation, far be it from me to complain). No sooner would we get through the entrance way before I found myself in the horror and sci-fi/fantasy sections, face-to-face with a slew of low budget titles, never advertised on television, performed by actors who seldom (if ever) broke into major motion pictures, and helmed by directors who proved, time and time again, that creativity cannot be bought, but rather cultivated, with ambition and a fervent imagination.

In my formidable youth, sold on the elaborate (if at times cheesy) cover art these features put forth, I’ve managed to tantrum my way into watching...
