Suzanne Y. Jones has a background in theatre, music, film and
television as writer, producer and performer.
Recently, Suzanne was Programming and Development Associate at nuvoTV cable network where she was part of the team that created original series. She has also worked in production or development on projects for ABC, PBS, NBC, Nickelodeon, and Gramercy Pictures.
Suzanne's original music theatre pieces, in collaboration with her twin sister, Stephanie Jones (as performance duo, The Jones Twins), were presented at venues including The Public Theatre, Lincoln Center, BAM, and Central Park Summerstage. The duo collaborated on the devised fashion show/play "The Collection," at Center Stage/LABrynth Theatre and wrote and performed "Barbie-cide" for "The Barbie Project" at The Ohio Theatre. Their music theatre piece, "The Jones Twins do Bebop Muzak," produced in New York, Hartford, Milwaukee and Los Angeles, was selected as the opening performance of the Smithsonian Institute's African-American Museum Project. They were hosts/performers of a legendary series of performance events at downtown's Dixon Place for many years. The Jones Twins have been featured in The New York Times, Daily News, The Village Voice, People, Paper and Spin Magazines.
The Jones Twins created vocals for New York Independent Film Festival Best Experimental Film Winner, "System Noise" in collaboration with alt-rock band M'Lumbo and have written songs for legendary music producer Malcolm McLaren. Recently they were invited to participate in California Institute of the Arts' "Lament Project", an online audio performance piece. The Jones Twins received a Franklin Furnace Performance Archive Emerging Artists Fellowship and a residency at Voice and Vision Theatre's Summer at Bard College where they developed their musical, "Superstarlet S/Hero Show." Currently, they are collaborating on a musical-comedy digital series for a Tween audience with writer-actress Kim Wayans.
Suzanne's Twinless work includes projects for NYC animation company, No Evil Productions, where her short comic films and songs were featured on websites including Huffington Post, NewGrounds and Atom Films. As a writer/producer for People Magazine Television, Suzanne is most proud of writing a sketch in collaboration with Warner Bros. Classic Animation featuring her hero, Bugs Bunny, for a People television special. Suzanne is also a voice actor who has shilled for Avon and Kodak, portrayed a cartoon Condoleezza Rice and a singing chicken, to name a few.
She is an M.F.A. Candidate in L.I.U.'s TV Writers Studio, a writing and producing program created by show runner and writer Norman Steinberg ("Blazing Saddles", "My Favorite Year") She received her B.A. with Honors from The New School, with a concentration in Screenwriting and Film Studies. Suzanne is the proud mom of Sasha, who, despite maternal misgivings, is already following in her mom's footsteps as a professional actress in TV and Film.
