If there's one thing Hollywood loves more than a biopic, it's a music biopic. From "Walk the Line" to "A Complete Unknown," these mythologizing movies about famous musicians tend to be reliable crowd pleasers that, even when they repeat and remix the same formula over and over, are almost sure to win all involved extra attention during awards season, and for good reason.
These films often require even more meticulous work on behalf of the cast and crew, as directors and designers have to capture the feel of iconic locations, time periods, and historical events. Screenwriters have to tell life stories that span decades while naturally weaving musical numbers into the story. And the actors must faithfully and respectfully embody some of the most recognizable and beloved figures in entertainment history, while almost always having to musically perform iconic songs. Making even a halfway decent music biopic is deceptively difficult,...

The Sex Pistols dedicated their set in Sydney, Australia Tuesday, April 8, to late Blondie drummer Clem Burke.
The punk greats have been on tour with Gallows singer Frank Carter, who opened the show with a quick tribute to Burke, who died earlier this week at the age of 70. “Very quickly I just want to take a moment to dedicate this show to an amazing man, and a friend of the lads, Clem Burke,” Carter said. “An incredible drummer, who sadly passed away yesterday. So tonight is for Clem and it’s for friendship.

As of last year, Sex Pistols have been touring with Frank Carter as their singer. For fans wondering why the legendary punk band didn’t reunite with original frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), guitarist Steve Jones says it “wasn’t even worth asking” him.
Sex Pistols last performed with Lydon in September 2008, completing a run of European festival appearances as part of the original lineup’s most recent reunion. In a new interview with Rolling Stone Australia, Jones says that’s also the last time he spoke with the singer. Years later, Jones and drummer Paul Cook became embroiled in legal action against Lydon over the use of the band’s music in Danny Boyle’s 2022 miniseries Pistol.

As much as we love covering the careers of prominent actors like "Spider-Man" franchise star Zendaya or "Mad Max: Fury Road" protagonist Tom Hardy, there's something uniquely exciting about looking at the work of a fast-rising star like Louis Partridge. Since appearing in Netflix's "Enola Holmes," opposite "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown, the 21-year-old English actor has appeared in some high-profile films and television shows, building his resume under the guidance of visionaries like Matthew Vaughn and Academy Award-winners Danny Boyle and Alfonso Cuarón.
At present, it sure seems as though Partridge is preparing to set the world on fire for the next few years, with starring roles in Steven Knight's "House of Guinness" and George Jaques' "Sunny Dancer" on the way. He's also slated to appear in Noah Baumbach's next film and will seemingly lead a new(ish) action franchise for Vaughn. If you want...

The lineup of Carter and classic Pistols members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook will play five gigs in September, including stops in Nottingham (September 20th); Birmingham (September 21st), Glasgow (September 22nd), Manchester (September 24th), and a previously announced concert at London’s 02 Forum Kentish Town (September 26th).
Tickets for select shows are already on sale, while the others go on sale Friday (August 23rd) at 9 a.m. local time.
Sex Pistols and Carter played their first show together on August 13th at Bush Hall, as part of a three-night stand to benefit the historic venue. The evening saw them ripping through every song on the Pistols’ lone studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks, as well as a few other tunes.

Sex Pistols played the first of three reunion shows at West London’s Bush Hall on Tuesday night (August 13th), featuring classic members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook performing with singer Frank Carter in place of Johnny Rotten. The revamped Pistols lineup also announced a fourth London show set for September 26th at the O2 Forum Kentish Town.
Two of the concerts at Bush Hall were announced back in early June as benefit shows to help keep the historic Shepherd’s Bush venue in business. A third show (August 15th) was added after the first two (August 13th and 14th) quickly sold out, but tickets are available via Viagogo.
As promised, the Pistols and Carter played the entire Never Mind the Bollocks album in full, albeit not in sequential order, ripping through classics like “Holidays in the Sun,” “Bodies,” and the set-closer “Anarchy in the U.K.”

Sex Pistols members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook will reunite for a pair of benefit shows in August, fronted by singer Frank Carter. Each evening will see the foursome playing the Pistols’ iconic album Never Mind the Bollocks in its entirety.
The concerts will take place August 13th and 14th at West London’s Bush Hall, with the proceeds benefitting the historic rock venue. Tickets for the two shows go on sale via Ticketmaster UK on Wednesday (June 5th) at 9 a.m. local time.
Jones, Matlock, and Cook make up the classic Sex Pistols lineup, minus singer Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon), who will not be participating. With his red hair and dynamic stage presence, British punk rocker Carter should make a fine fill-in for Rotten, as he’s proven via his sensational live shows with his band Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and before that as frontman of Gallows.

In 2022, Oscar winner Danny Boyle retold the revolutionary story of the legendary British punk rock group the Sex Pistols with his limited series Pistol on FX. The six-part biopic based on guitarist and co-founding band member Steve Jones's memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol would score two BAFTA nominations for its portrayal of the band's brief yet historic rise to fame and infamy through the eyes of Jones, portrayed on-screen by Toby Wallace. Although the series can currently be found on Hulu, it's now bound for digital platforms everywhere starting on May 13 for those who don't have a subscription.

A new restoration of the 1959 horror film on Blu-ray and DVD, and making its UK digital debut, Horrors Of The Black Museum, starring Michael Gough and directed by Arthur Crabtree (Fiend Without a Face), marked the first film in the “Sadian Trilogy”, followed by the Hammer favourite Circus of Horrors and Michael Powell’s infamous Peeping Tom – introducing cinema audiences to a more shocking and salacious brand of onscreen horror.
A series of grisly, macabre murders sweep London and leave Scotland Yard completely baffled. Bancroft, an evil crime journalist, is hypnotising his assistant to commit murders using items curated in his own personal “Black Museum” – inspired by the infamous real-life collection of weapons and torture instruments used by criminals. The new animated film premiering on Netflix starts exactly the way you’d think a fairy tale should. The first words we hear, after all, are, “A long, long time ago, a kingdom lived in peace.”
But don’t be fooled. Nimona, based on Nd Stevenson’s acclaimed graphic novel, is about as far from an ordinary fairy tale as animated films get. Cheekily irreverent and hilariously subversive, it’s a consistent delight.
After that lulling introduction, the action shifts forward one thousand years, with the story set in a futuristic medieval kingdom that boasts skyscrapers along with its ancient fortresses. The story begins with a cheesy news broadcast hosted by two over-enthusiastic anchors (Indya Moore, RuPaul) covering the kingdom’s “Night to Knight Knights,” a reality show-style competition. Among the competitors is the insecure, one-armed Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), who’s encouraged in his efforts by his boyfriend and fellow knight-in-training,...

Alex Jones has looked back at one of The One Show’s most memorable interviews involving former cohost Matt Baker and the then-Prime Minister, David Cameron.
Jones, who has been a main presenter on the BBC One evening magazine show since 2010, has been present for some of the programme’s landmark moments.
During an appearance on the Off Menu podcast this week, Jones was asked about The One Show’s 2011 live interview with Cameron.
Towards the end of the segment, Baker had a quick additional question for the Conservative politician: “How do you sleep at night?”
Viewers were surprised and entertained at the hard-line implication of the presenter’s query, as it clashed with the usual lightness of the programme.
“I’ve always managed to sleep okay,” Cameron replied. “If you work hard during the day and get your stuff done, try and put it behind you. At the end of the day,...

Alex replied: “I’ll definitely answer it. So long, long story short, back in the day I was an entertainment correspondent on Rise, and Angelina Jolie was coming on to be interviewed.”
The Welsh presenter then claimed that Steve stopped her from...

Netflix is on the cusp of taking down a wide selection of movies and TV series.
The streaming service removes numerous titles each month, but without fanfare; unless you happen to select the thing that’s about to leave, you will have no idea there’s a limited amount of time left to watch.
Fortunately, we’ve compiled a list of every movie and TV show being removed from Netflix in April 2023.
We’ve aggregated all the impending removals from Netflix in the UK and US, which we’ve signalled below. If there isn’t a territory listed next to the title, then it will be leaving both.
Find a full list of every film and TV show arriving on Netflix this month here.
Nb: We put this list together with help from What’s on Netflix.

Sex/Life has been cancelled by Netflix days after the show’s star Sarah Shahi criticised the “gimmicky” second season.
Following the viral success of season one in 2021, Netflix’s erotic thriller returned for a second season in March. Shahi returned as series lead Billie Connelly, while Mike Vogel and Adam Demos (Shahi’s real-life partner) came back as the two men she is in a love triangle with.
However, in a recent interview, Shahi claimed that she was not happy with the second season of the drama and had not received the same levels of “support”.
“I mean, I’m never gonna work for Netflix again now after saying all this, but I can’t lie,” she said.
On Friday (7 April), a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that Sex/Life had been cancelled after two seasons, having come to a natural close after season two.
Just days before, Shahi had made her comments...

Rylan Clark has said that he can count his celebrity friends “on one hand”.
Appearing on Joe Lycett’s live Channel 4 show Late Night Lycett on Friday (7 April), Clark was asked by comedian Lycett to name his famous friends.
Admitting that he could “count them on one hand”, Clark listed Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, as well as Claire Richards from Steps.
“They’re my little nook,” he said.
Lycett responded by joking that his celebrity fans could be counted on 10 fingers, one for each of the 10 members of the band Blazin’ Squad. To demonstrate this, he held up a prop hand with five extra fingers stuck onto the palm.
Clark has been vocal in the past about his love of Langsford and Holmes, who he worked with on This Morning.
In his memoir Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, published last year, the presenter said that a...

Netflix’s latest series is already making waves with viewers, achieving a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Arriving on the streaming website on Wednesday (6 April), Beef is a dark comedy produced by A24. It stars Minari actor Steven Yeun and comedian Ali Wong as two strangers who get into a road-rage accident.
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, Beef has a 99 per cent score at the time of writing on the critic-supported Tomatometer, as well as a 96 per cent score based on audience reviews.
Critics have praised both the show’s writing and performances (by Yeun and Wong), suggesting Beef is a shoo-in for this year’s Emmy Awards.
Writing for Salon, Melanie McFarland said: “One day in the future academics may view Beef as a convincing TV distillation of the early 21st-century’s collective mood, a lingering and worsening state of society-wide pandemic anger.
