For two seasons, Fallout star Ella Purnell had the lead in a drama series called Sweetbitter for Starz. A couple of months ago, she returned to Starz in another show with “Sweet” in the title, this one called Sweetpea, which premiered as a Starz original in the United States and Canada in October. At the time, the show was being referred to as a six episode limited series, but now, Deadline has broken the news that Sky Studios and Starz has ordered season 2 of Sweetpea.
The short description of Sweetpea goes like this: “The girl everyone overlooks might just be able to get away with murder.” Here’s some more information: Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really,...

At the start of Sweetpea, the new Starz/Sky Atlantic series adaptation of Cj Skuse’s novel of the same name, Rhiannon Lewis (Ella Purnell) is having a bad life. In voice-over, she catalogues the people she’d like to kill in a list that ranges from the man spreader on the bus and the cashier at the store who is always on the phone, all the way up to her high school nemesis, Julia Blenkingsopp (Nicôle Lecky).
Rhiannon is a quintessential horror protagonist. She is shy and meek, working a dead end job as the receptionist at a newspaper where she is taken advantage of by work colleagues. She is introverted and overlooked, pining for a romance with a shitty guy who won’t acknowledge her in public. And she still lives at home with her father Tommy, who is in the hospital with a life-threatening illness that Rhiannon...

Soul singer Smokey Robinson is embroiled in a bitter family feud with his niece in the wake of his sister's death, amid accusations he abandoned the women financially as she battled cancer. Robinson's sister Rose Ella Jones lost her battle against stomach cancer on April 26. The former nurse played a big part in Robinson's early career, helping him write hits including "Quiet Storm" and "Virgin Man".
According to her daughter, Stacye Jones, Robinson, who was supporting the pair by providing $1,225 in monthly rent, stopped writing cheques after he was asked to pay for his sister's at-home nurse. Jones tells the National Enquirer, "I asked Smokey if he would pay for home nursing. He told me coldly, 'Your mother never did anything for me. Let the state look after her.' It broke my heart, but I had to put her into a home."
