    • David Hugh Jones was born on February 19, 1934 in Poole, Dorset, England, UK. He was a director and producer, known for Poste restante (1987), Trahisons conjugales (1983) and New York - Unité spéciale (1999). He was married to Amanda Jones and Sheila Allen. He died on September 18, 2008 in Rockport, Maine, USA.

  • Was artistic director of the RSC's Aldwych Theatre.
  • Father, with Sheila Allen, of sons Joe Jones and Jesse Jones.
  • Left the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1979 to take up an appointment as artistic director at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and to found a resident theatre company modelled on the RSC. Taught at the Yale School of Drama in 1981 before returning to England.
  • While he directed A Christmas Carol (1999), his son Joe portrayed Caroline's husband. That character and his wife Caroline previously did not appear in every film adaptation of Charles Dicken's holiday-themed novel. Their scene occurs after the Spirit of Christmas Future compels Scrooge to view his own bedroom with a shrouded corpse of himself on the bed and before the spirit takes him to Bob Cratchit's house.
