Netflix has cracked the code for comfort shows and sitting right up among the streamer's best is Sweet Magnolias, a romantic comedy series that centers around the lives of three best friends: Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott), and Helen Decatur (Heather Headley) bonded since childhood. Based on a novel series of the same name by Sherryl Woods, the show follows the trio of women as they navigate their careers, romantic relationships, and sisterhood. Season 4 recently premiered on the streamer and ended in a cliffhanger for Maddie. Thankfully, viewers will get to see how her new chapter plays out as the show thereafter scored a Season 5 renewal. News of the pickup was tied to “World Book Day,” and came as part of a series of announcements that also included the greenlight for two new shows, “The Age of Innocence” and “Unaccustomed Earth,” in addition to the “Sweet Magnolias” renewal.

Cal ultimately finds him at the baseball field and the two share a really sweet conversation as Ty shares his regrets about not fixing things with Bill before it was too late.

Ty says he wants to be a man who takes on responsibilities like Cal, which really touches Cal who has been struggling to adjust to his new role as stepdad. The pair head home and Ty apologizes to Maddie for increasing her pain by going off on Bonnie. He tells them he’s not going to go on the road with Olivia as he should stick around and Maddie encourages him not to make a decision while everything is still fresh and emotions are high.

Sweet Magnolias’s third Season was the weakest, so Netflix must improve the narrative. Hopefully, it listened to the fans and repaired several relationships.

2025 is really shaping up to be a wonderful year full of great releases, and Netflix has confirmed two big shows we've been eagerly waiting for, coming in the new year! Get ready for You season 5 and Sweet Magnolias season 4.

Let's start with the fifth and final season of You starring Penn Badgley. Unfortunately the streamer still hasn't provided an official release date. Even though the new season is later than expected, you would think a premiere date would be given by now. I mean no offense Netflix, but we already expected it to come in 2025 since it's done filming and wasn't released in 2024 for whatever reason.

Details are still scarce, but we do have a short synopsis and two new intriguing posters that have puzzles for us to decipher. The first one is pretty easy, with the letters spelling out "goodbye you." But the second one is a bit more tricky.

Netflix has released first look photos for Sweet Magnolias season four, along with the show’s synopsis and release date!

The streaming service confirmed all 10 episodes will drop on February 6, 2025.

The streaming service confirmed Thursday that a new season is officially in the works.

All three leading ladies -- JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley will return for another season since there would be no Magnolias without them.

The series, whose third installment was released in July, has scored global success on the streamer, with its first three seasons appearing on Netflix’s global top 10 list for 10 weeks across more than 60 countries. Sweet Magnolias' co-stars and love interests Heather Headley and Dion Johnstone are good friends and share an excellent rapport. The minute we started our joint virtual Zoom interview, it was apparent how much they had missed working together.

We had the opportunity to chat with Headley and Johnstone during a recent press day, and it was one of the most fun chat experiences. This interview was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Both actors were disappointed they didn’t work much together during Sweet Magnolias Season 3, though they enjoyed their challenging, emotional arcs.
